Seen and Heard at Texas Stadium
• This town loves Tony Romo. The Cowboys quarterback came out of the tunnel at 1:20 — he wasn't wearing a uniform — and drew big applause, even from those in the upper deck. An hour later, in uniform, Romo got another loud ovation, bigger than the applause for any other Cowboys player.
• Dan Snyder evidently felt the need for five — five! — security guards (at least by our unofficial tally) when he walked onto the field nearly two hours before the game. As he is at most road games, Snyder was trailed by wingman Bernard Shaw.
• Last week, Seen and Heard spotted an Anthony Montgomery No. 94 jersey in the stands for the first time. Ol' Monty confirmed the next day the wearer was his sister but said "it's a start" to his fan club. Yesterday, Seen and Heard spotted two No. 37 Reed Doughty jerseys on the sideline before the game.
• Forty-two minutes before kickoff, Joe Gibbs took the field. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips was directly in his sight, but Gibbs opted not to chat. He did speak with referee Walt Anderson before going to the 35-yard line with offensive coordinator Don Breaux.
• Only in Texas, Part I: The lead news item on the local ABC station Saturday night: The Cherry Pit, a noted "swingers" club in Duncanville, is being shut down. A Google search of "Dallas" and "swingers" revealed 1,080,000 matches.
• Only in Texas, Part II: Saturday night in Conroe, which is near Houston, Santa Claus needed help from local firefighters after he tried to rappel down a billboard ... and got tangled up.
