After I upgraded to a HD package and had it professionally installed (the first time wasn't), I haven't had many outages at all.

That's the key. I was having issues getting my HD locals until I actually had another installer come out. It turns out that the first installer didn't have a clue what she was doing... The 2nd installer hooked me up and I haven't had an issue since. DTV rules. :

I wish that had been the case for me but it wasn't.

I use to have the same problems as you, DirectTv has gotten 10x better in recent years. Back in the day, you use to have to go out and brush off the dish during snow storms etc. Not any more, very rarely does the picture go out these days, including during rain and snow storms.

It's been some years since you've had DTV. When I first got it (almost 10 yrs ago), mine used to go out on clear, sunny days.

I could probably afford it if I really wanted to, but if I'm only getting it for the 'boys, it wouldn't make sense financially.

The only threat to me not getting the Cowboys game is if it's scheduled at noon and the Texans are at home.
