I was watching Underworld, Inc. on Netflix. The cops busted a guy for selling counterfeit Tide and Downy detergent. After it was all said and done, because they rushed the operation, he never actually put a Tide label on the product, so their case was substantially weakened. It just got me thinking about all the time and resources that were spent on this operation, and how those resources could have been better spent on changing the world for good. I don't want to make this political, but it seems like we spent an inordinate amount of resources on futile projects.

I understand the whole idea of...why waste time and money on this type of thing when it could be better served on more important things.

I get that and have thought and said similar things in the past over other issues.

But at the end of the day if they only spent it on things that we deemed more important...why have laws for the other stuff at all? Do we just let those that break laws that don't matter to us or we don't deem as important just have free reign
to break the law?

I do understand what you mean, but at the same time, we just can't ignore stuff that is against the law just because we don't deem it as important as other stuff.

This is exactly why we buy Arm and Hammer detergent. Scandalous.

The point was to stop the counterfeiting which is important as it affects the company who's product is being counterfeited and the employees who work for that company. Sometimes it doesn't all go as planned. I didn't see the show, but I'm sure it's difficult to know if the labels have been added yet. Of course they could have waited till the product was ready and being moved, but then there is a risk that it gets out before they can stop it.

Though if they were in possession of the labels that were going to be added, they could still use that in court.
