A small plug for ESPN, which will be airing a five-part series of interviews with some high-profile NFL players next week.

Tony Romo gets the leadoff spot during the 5 p.m. SportsCenter Monday to answer questions from ESPN's Ed Werder. Romo will be followed by Jay Cutler (Tuesday), Jason Taylor (Wednesday), Ben Roethlisberger (Thursday) and Carson Palmer (Friday).

You're welcome, everybody. What would Ed Werder do without the Dallas Cowboys?

Why would anyone want to interview Carson Palmer? He's never even won a playoff game, for crying out loud!

does romo ever turn down an offer to be on television? Romo is not going to know what to do with himself when Hardknock crews show up fleet of camera.

Being available for interviews is an accepted part of the QBs job particularly when they come from rather large/important sports media types like ESPN, etc. Also I believe all requests for interviews of Romo & other Cowboy players first goes through the Cowboys PR office to accept/decline on Romo's behalf. On his own Romo occasionally can/does accept interview requests from small outlets like his home town newspaper in Wisconsin or golf digest after golf tournament, his college newspaper, etc.

Just remember that as the Cowboy franchise QB he's one of the highest profile players in the NFL and in the sports world in general. That means the media request for interviews with him is probably huge. Also Jerry Jones loves all the media hype he can get for the Cowboys & every time Romo is interviewed that's more hype for the Cowboys & you bet Romo knows Jerry's position on that issue. Also I bet you that Romo turns down a heck of a lot more interviews then he ever accepts.

BTW: Did you know that 1-2 hours before the Cowboy-Packer game last year the former Mexican president (a huge Cowboy fan who attending the game) requested an meeting/interview with Romo; Jerry immediately escorted Romo to the meeting even though Romo was either already on the field practicing or in the lockerroom mentally preparing for the game. It came out during the interview that Romo, although of Hispanic descent (along with German & Polish) doesn't speak Spanish at all. Personally I would have thought that interview was a heck of a lot more distracting then some other things.

Romo's expected media prominence is part of what Jerry Jones paid 60 million dollars for, I believe: to keep the Cowboys in the news throughout the season and off season.
