GB plays a lot of cover 2 and splits their safties wide towards the sideline.

In turn they tackle well and want to pass rush you into sacks or short completions.

If you can hold up under their pressure the seam area is wide open for completions, which means Witten should have fun.

I think TO in the slot will pay off huge. We have had great success with 4-3 cover 2 defenses this year and I think Romo will play well again.

Also, I noticed Detriot getting a good push in the run game and this was on traditional run downs as well.

Basically Detriot had many opportunities, but failed to make simple plays.

I really think we should control this game even with our average secondary play.

The other thing I noticed in that game is that the Detroit tackles BLOW. They were getting pancaked constantly from straight up bull rushes. We should win this game rather easily, but we need to avoid stupid mistakes.

They probably played coverage that way because it was the Lions. They don't have Witten.

You mean teams in the NFL don't use the same gameplan against every opponent?

Interesting.

The Lions had open WRs but even after all those 1st round WR draft picks they simply could not catch the football. It was crazy. All world once in a lifetime Calvin Johnson dropped like 4 catchable passes.

GB has a fierce DL and Kampman can bull rush most tackles as he is seriously strong.

Where I think we can win this game is with the running game. The Pack are not a good running team unless you live in the dime and they can gash you out of it. We actually stop the run well in our pass defense sets with RW and Burnett.

Getting our zone covering up Jennings and the TE are my only worries but ultimately we should be able to win a game that starts slowly then gets going into high octane offense mode. 31-27 Dallas.

I would love to see the Boys man up TNew with Driver, Jennings with Reeves and Robinson (or whomever) with Henry all game instead of going to zone's....but that is the NFL these days.

I noted this before the draft. He had the lowest completion percentage of any receiver taken in the first two rounds. Some blamed it on Reggie Ball, but I'm not so sure. The reason he had so much yardage in college was because they just kept on throwing to him regardless of whether he caught the ball or not. He's an amazing athlete, but I'm skeptical as to whether he'll ever be an amazing receiver.

The Lions had a lot of chances to win that game and should have won easily, but between Kitna being inaccurate and his WRs, Johnson in particular, dropping easy passes, they blew those opportunities.

The Packers are not as good as their record would indicate (despite what Parcells was fond of saying, which isn't true anyway) as they have lucked out on a number of occasions. In 6 games this year they have come from behind or held on to win. We have only had two close games (Bills & Commanders) and the Commanders game was closer than it needed to be if we would have kept the pressure on them late in the game.

I am very confident we will beat the Packers and by a solid margin.

Not now that Parcells has retired.

I was under the impression that Green Bay manned their corners up almost exclusively, even before Deion's tirade the other night about Al Harris. They kind of let the DBs match up and allow the LBs to roam and make plays. Maybe they mixed it up against Detroit becuase of Woodson and the two wideouts with no TE threat to speak of.

Oh, and just so I don't break this great vibe we've got going....<insert snarky "Parcells is a dinosaur who couldn't coach football" comment here>

Any new word on my boy (enemy for this week) Charles Woodsen's toe?

Talk about mis-matches if he isn't 100% for them come Thursday.

Saw the same thing the first time around, but at the same time, Detroit doesn't really have a potent TE game like Dallas does...Not sure we'll see the same coverage with Witten & TO as the main passing weapons...They'll 'probably' roll coverage to leave the 'other' WR (Crayton or Hurd) on an island.

The thing, also, about the Green Bay DBs...Even with their injuries, they seem to have competent depth and pretty good speed in addition to solid tackling...This should make for a great test for the Cowboys on both sides of the ball, IMHO
