Watching Dez Got Me Thinkng

I was in the process of getting some video clips to make a highlight video of Dez. First off, he was spectacular when he played but you all already know that. But it also raised the question, "Shouldn't we draft an offensive lineman to protect 3 or 4 of our best players on our team?"

I am all for Peterson at #9 or for even a small trade up. The man is a stud and should be our #1 target. But we know the biggest hole on this team is on the right side of our line. What I am suggesting is that if we want our player-makers to dominate like they can, we need to upgrade our offensive line before we worry about anything else.

But what player improves us the most this year? What about 5 years from now? I like Tyron Smith as the best long-term solution, but I also like Carimi and where you can get him. I also really like Mike Pouncey who has experience at 4 positions, not to mention what his twin brother has done.

So I guess if I had to choose who I would target after Peterson, it would be Pouncey. I can see a small trade down and picking up our next stud lineman. That's my useless take after watching some incredible clips from our last first round pick.

I would take Pouncey at the end of the 1st. If we could trade back that far and pick up another 2nd and 4th.

We absolutely must upgrade the oline, but it doesn't have to be in the first. We just need to get the best player or trade down if we get a great offer. I don"t think that is likely we will get a good enough offer. I don't want to reach because of need.

I agree that we don't need to reach but is Pouncey or Carimi a reach in a trade down? I don't think so.

And to the thought that we can get someone like Pouncey in the last part of the 1st is false. I would be surprised if he makes it to the 20's.

Even on the outside chance Dallas can move up to get Peterson I do not think that prevents the Cowboys from drafting an OL in the 2nd rd. with the 41st pick.

But will that 41st pick be of value to draft and if so, can they start right away and not be a liability? I guess thats the risk in waiting until the 2nd round.

I don't know since we do not know what players will be on the board. I do know many of the top OL players will likely fall in mid 1st into the 2nd rd. I'm not going to say there are no risk heck there are risk no matter what direction we take

Agreed. If we take Peterson, I would love to get Danny Watkins in the 2nd. He could start at RG or RT for the next 6-9 years for us.

I like Marcus Cannon as well should we look for OL in the 2nd
