Watkins at cb?

My God... you've convinced me. Move Roy W. (5 picks) to LCB, Watkins (3) to RCB.

Henry sucks, evidenced by your videos. Cut him now.

That means our Nickel back is.... Akin Ayodele (2 picks), and our Dime CB.... wait for it.... Greg Ellis!!! He only had one pick, but that was as many as Newman and Glenn, and Ellis is 6'6"... he has the size to stick with the Roy Williams and Andre Johnson's of the NFL.

Super Bowl Champs 2007.

I agree Zimmer was a genius at this sort of stuff turning safteys into cb's. Just looked what he did with mario edwards and pete hunter for example.

Wow, are we relly going to start bashing Zimmer for having lousy players to deal with?

BALKIS;1613912 said:
Now that Brown showed he can play a little fs. What about moving watkins over to cb like we did mario edwards a few years back? Would this be a dumb move?

At 6'5" Watkins isn't exactly built to hang with quick WR's.

Heck, Watkins hasn't even been able to convince the Cowboys he can help in coverage playing 10 yards deep - why should they think he can cover WR's from the line of scrimmage?

Or 6'6 Wr's, as Plaxico toasted him last year..

I posted this last night in the game thread, but that pick that Courtney Brown made was the play I wish Watkins would have made on that deep ball against the Giants.

Did not watch the game last night. Brown played that well to earn a spot?! Hope so cuz I've been pulling for him since we drafted him. What about Alan Ball?

I don't know if he played well enough to earn a spot or not, but that one specific INT was VERY nice.

Watkins had more Ints than most of our corners last season. [ 3 ]

There's much much more to being a good corner than interceptions, look at Newman. Hell, Ware had two interceptions last year, want him to play corner too?

Plus, it's easier to track the ball when you start 15 yards off the line and can stare down the QB, completely different than playing a receiver.

Ball is going to get cut. He hasn't proved himself to have skills in coverage or special teams.

And your point is? Hell with you logic we should play Roy at CB. After all he had [5]. :bang2:

He has better hands than most of our corners.

Nothing wrong with my logic.

See my sig if you have any doubts.

Except, for the millionth time (and you continue to fail to address), we didn't draft a QB....

Your sig thinks we did.

Your sig also thinks we failed to draft a LBer, when we did that with our 1st rounder.

Your sig proves how wonderfully how stubborn and ignorant you can be.

Stanback is a qb..wanna-be wr.

We drafted a DE and we are trying to convert him to an OLB.

Nothing wrong with my logic.

Having good hands and being able to cover one on one from the line of scrimmage aren't the same thing ......

It's hard to use your good hands when the ball is thrown to a WR that has created 10 yards worth of separation, don't you think?

What position does NFL.com list Stanback as?
What position does NFL.com list Spencer as?

In 1981, the Cowboys recorded 37 team INTS on Defense.

That's how bad things are.

Hines Ward was a QB. So was Drew Pearson. Antwan Randal El. Patrick Crayton. Matt Jones.

DeMarcus Ware was a DE. So was Sean Merriman. Terrell Suggs.

But Hines Ward et al were drafted as WR's, and it worked out pretty well.

And DeMArcus Ware, et al were drafted as OLB's, and it worked out pretty well.

Huh? This has what to do with Patrick Watkins ...... ?

Watkins can catch.

Our corners can't.

Even if one accepted that, what exactly does that have to do with the 1981 Cowboys?
