I've been watching the Houston game, and he looks mediocre. Making some key mistakes. Guess the lesson is to not anoint too early.

Or condemn too early.

But yes, the real homework on QBs comes in the offseason.
The job is to find a weakness or two and exploit it.
Then its their job to counter that by improving that weakness.

Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All players need time to see what they really are. Lots of pan flashes and lots of players who looked bad early but came on after a while.

I think the main point is QBs like Watson and Dak can't afford to take the pre season off.

Or they can't afford to be young.

Dak is often compared to seasoned QBs like Romo in his prime or Brady. Brady in his 3rd year averaged 226 yards a game and completed a measly 60% of his passes. Moreover, Brady's low passing percentage was not just the result of his receivers, but also the result of Brady throwing poor passes. I'm not thrilled with Dak, but I do understand he's young.

Watson came off a major injury and was a rookie last year and this was his first game back. To expect anything other than rust was foolish thinking.

But the transition from rookie to 2nd year is huge at the QB in this league. Coaches get a whole offseason to study those rookie QBs and devise plans to stop them.

He hasn't even played a full 16 games yet. No way to know how he will turn out yet.

I know I was vague, but that's pretty much why I said what I said. They're still young, learning, and hopefully improving.
