I just don't see using a 1st round pick on Watt as a 4-3 DE.

I'm not saying he can't be good there, but I just don't see enough to make me want to use a 1st round pick to find out.

I think 3-4 teams will push up his value because he seems to have a good feel for playing LB.

From the game footage that I watched, he just didn't line up and beat OTs straight up very often. He moved around the formation and managed to find ways to get to the QB but as a 4-3 DE he won't be moving all over the formation.

The issue I have with him is that I keep seeing concerns over Ross and his knee issues but Watt's knees get disregarded.

He looks like a solid player and I have to give it to him for switching positions. Still, I'm not sold on the guy as being a 1st rounder.

I agree. Not sold. Like the player and he has a ton of talent to work with. His use of his hands is amazing.

But: injury-wise, major risk. And I believe I read many of his sacks were unblocked or vs. a TE

I won't be upset if we draft him though because he's reliable, athletic and only scratching the surface of his ability. But he is no slam dunk, that's for sure

I forgot who said this but they said he could be another Clay Matthews Jr. type player, one good year gets drafted higher than initially thought, then is better in the pros. Who really knows, he does have all the characteristics of that type of player. I would hope he learns real fast gets more refined and adds weight/strength, I mean his brother did that in college, might not be that implausible.

I don't see him as a 1st rounder, but he's got better size than almost every projected first round DE not named Garrett.

Plus the high work ethic and last name.

It really depends on how this draft pans out, but I wouldn't hate the guy at 28.

That could mean that he lined up 1 time in a 3 point stance and had a sack. Whatever the number, I'm sure his number of snaps from a 3 point stance is far below 4-3 DEs so it's probably not a good comparison.

We know his brother uses the juice and he is being compared to Matthews who uses the juice. We draft him and he won't get off the stage with Goodell before he is suspended for PEDs...lol

I'd take him over Harris and Takk just because I think he's a much safer pick. I recently went back and watched him more and was surprised that he does actually show the "rip and dip" technique to bend the edge. Not as straight line as I thought. You are right though, he doesn't attack the OT 1 on 1 nearly as much as you'd like a projected 4-3 end to. Same with Bowser too imo.

The injuries are the biggest concern tho. What shape are the knees in now? And what are the odds of reinjuring 1 of them?

Who knows this?

I don't and you don't. It's OK to speculate but we don't know **** .

I remember watching JJ in college and thinking he was to good to be true but we all knew Smith would be the choice. Watching TJ, I just don't get that vibe that he is anything special. He does have the measurables but I don't get anything special watching him and I have injury concerns about both him and his brother. I do have PED concerns about the injuries but I don't have any evidence and I can't make judgements as if I do.

I disagree with most here. I think he looks very good and active on rushing the passer. I noticed they used him a lot in coverage which limited him rushing the passer. Also noticed how smart he is and doesn't get fooled. He holds his own on running downs and looks like he could add more weight to his size. I for one would be quite happy with picking him. I only see Garrett and Barnett being better then him. After those two I like Harris just a little more than Watt. Not a fan of Taco, I do like Takk but the injury just turns me off considering our past with oft injured players.

Good point but Bowser scares me more than anything. Harris has the sickest spin move I have seen in some time. I think that is almost worthy of a first round pick in itself.
