So, did Control end up giving birth to the Borg? It damn sure looks like it!

Maybe the Red Angle sends it into the past (and Delta quadrant) rather than into the future? Sending them back with no technology except nano probes it's made up of? That is why they start assimilating everything to collect 100,000 years of information like that space sphere that saved all of it's memories on Discovery? I mean since they don't end up getting it from Discovery.

They just start the process anew in the path and become the Borg.

I pay for Netflix, CBS All Access (while Star Trek is playing only the canel) and HBO, but only during GoT. Then I cancel it.

Actually, I have Amazon Prime too, but not for the video. (just for shipping due to how often I order from there) I hardly watch the video, but they are building a large video selection now that is free if you have prime. Not to mention you can rent stuff. Though I mainly only do that for my GF's daughter from time to time.

So I basically only pay for a single site for video purposes year around. Everything else is on-demand. Ones the demand is gone, so is paying for the channel.

I've been a cord cutter for a long time. The only thing I pay the cable company for is Internet access.

I wanted to locate and re-read Gabrielle Burnham's mission log before replying.

Like you stated, The Borg assimilates. Control destroys all forms of life.

I recall the scene where Michael's mother was standing on the desolated Earth. The Borg we know either transformed entire worlds into biological mechanical civilizations or removed and transported existing technology from planets, leaving them barren BUT not dead.

Control's core programming would require significant alteration before sending it into the past. If not, why would Control-Turned-The Borg convert its philosophy of destroying all forms of organic life into striving for bio-mechanical perfection?

I disagree. Control is fundamentally different from The Borg in my opinion.

No, I mean they will end up sending Control some where. I figured back in time, or at least to another part of the galaxy.

The nano probes and how they infect how the skin reacts to them is exactly how it happens with the Borg.

Where Burnham's mother was doesn't mean that is where they send Control. Besides, if Control was sent to the future, that would change the past and what Burnham's mother saw would no longer exist.

Control wants knowledge so it can exterminate all life and Borg assimilate for knowledge. Nothing said so far doesn't say that the Borg intends to destroy all life. (that's exactly what it's basically doing during assimilation) Think about it. It learned to assimilate just so it could gain knowledge. That screams Borg.

There is only one episode left. The truth is coming!

to me it's one of the best shows on TV but i doubt it's going to continue. alone its great but there's not enough on CBS to make me want to pay for it really so when done, i cut it back off.

the cinematography is top notch to be sure.

I don't watch it, but I've sorta kept up on it. Could it be possible that Control is sent far away and into the past, founds the machine civilization that V'Ger runs into. It upgrades V'Ger which goes to Earth and merges with Decker (The Motion Picture) and Ilia, thus producing the Borg? So Control doesn't turn into the Borg so much as is it's granddaddy?

The video I posted above is very interesting in the fact that not only does it describe how Control got the way it is (via the Borg), but it explains the ships sheer size and the Spore drive (and Discovery itself) which doesn't exist in the original canon.

I have always looked at Star Trek: Discovery as an alternate timeline franchise. It will be extremely interesting if The Borg are tied into this season.

I've got to say. The ending wasn't near as exciting as it's anticipation of it.

They better make a Pike series.

It will be interesting to see what season three is like considering they are 950 years in the future. I'm guessing her mother will be a core part of the show too.

I finally stopped and watched the season finale. Perhaps I am wrong but it still does not seem likely that Control birthed The Borg in the distant past.

The finale had the best massive Star Trek space battle since DS9's Sacrifice of Angels episode in my opinion. Loved it. Now we get to see a solo voyage even more isolated and removed from the Alpha Quadrant than that seen in Star Trek: Voyager.

Great science fiction.

I totally agree on a Pike series but how long would it run? We all know Pike's ultimate fate. How would they fit it into the series' run?

If I recall correctly, at the end of season two. They were still seven years before Kirk takes the Enterprise. No series thus far as lasted longer than seven season, so I don't see any issue with the timeline.
