st Round- Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin- With Murray likely gone we will need someone to replace his production and his ability to be a workhorse back. Enter Melvin Gordon, a guy who had 343 carries for over 2500 yards last year (in other words, he was the defination of a workhorse back). Adding him will see that our offense doesn't miss a step in our post-Murray years
nd Round- Nate Orchard DE Utah- With us needing some huge help in terms of our pass rush, Nate Orchard can come in right away and put a huge licking on the QB right away. If Marinelli and Lett can work to help him in run defense he will be a powerful force on our team. And yes... I know this is probably a dream pick, but oh well.
rd Round- Carl Davis DT Iowa- While he lacks elite stats I have seen some people say he could easily develop into an every down player for years to come (and his Senior Bowl week is helping to give me confidence there). Will probably help out more in run defense than pass rush, but from our 1 tech DT I won't mind that too much, especially if we have our other 3 players getting to the QB consistantly and Davis helping to give the opposing QB no place to go. This is another player I think that Marinelli will help out a lot with.
th Round- Kevin White CB TCU- This is a guy I hadn't heard of a lot before this week, so that makes me a bit skeptical, but after reading some of what people have had to say I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him in the 4th round, if nothing else he should be able to help out in some substitution packages, and maybe as a slot corner in a nickel coverage.
th Round- Blake Sims QB Alabama- This was a hard pick for me, because I didn't have any readily made players, but Romo won't last forever and Weeden should be on his way out. Sims has the ability to be a very good QB, and if we limit him effectively by pounding the ball with the running game, it should help him out (as will throwing to guys like Bryant, Beasley, and Witten).
No 6th rounder I believe because of the McClain trade and I won't even try with the 7th round due to obvious difficulty this early in the draft season nothing is known about a lot of those players. The main weakness I still see is we probably could still use 1 more CB, and we still need a safety I think. Though I wouldn't be disappointed at all if the draft looked like this, what do you think?
