Things will change just thought it would be fun.

QB: Romo, Prescott, Moore
RB: Zeke, Morris, Mcfadden, Jackson
FB: none needed with Zeke
TE: Witten, Hanna, Swain
WR: Dez, Butler, Williams, Beasley, Whitehead, Brown (UDFA)
OT: Smith, Free, Green, Brown
OG: Martin, Collins, Leary, Looney
C: Frederick. .... (Looney)

DT: Crawford, Thornton, Collins, Irving
DE: (Dlaw), (Gregory), Mayowa, J. Crawford, Tapper, Russell
LB: Lee, Ro, Hitchens, Wilber, Wilson, Gayheart
CB: Scandrick, Carr, Mo, Mitchell, Brown, Olatoye
S: Jones, Wilcox, Frazier, Church, Heath

K: Money
P: Jones
L.S: L.P

IR: Smith, Escobar, Dunbar

I know I went deep at reciever and defensive backs and light on the front 7. That will change depending o on training camp and how Dlaw suspension goes.

I didn't count Lawrence or Gregory in the 53 and will cut secondary and possibly reciever to fit them in.

If Jaylon Smith comes back for the last few weeks and playoffs. ....and superbowl. ....then he takes Gachkar spot on the team.

I feel like I'm missing some important players so please jump in and let me hear yall advice and players you would like to see.

(Didn't project any trades or FA cuts)

I can't stand that we'd cut Dunbar if healthy. I'd even cut Swaim to make room. I see DMC getting ran out of town though. This job is EE's to lose and Morris wil be a nice COP guy.

I also think we bring in a in another Vet LB and late cut WR. How long does Wilson have to stay? Can't stand him.

Dunbar helps a lot in the passing game when healthy. He brings something that none of the other RBs (maybe Zeke) bring.

Well Dunbar isn't healthy. ....notice IR in my projection

Wilson was a rookie last year, give him some time

Dunbar isn't healthy why you think we took a bigger, faster, stronger RB in the 6th in Jackson. Dunbar is done go check his injury

It's no maybe. Zeke can run the route tree and stay on the field. The smoke screens and the like they would run for Dunbar are within his capability.

Jackson gives you everything and more compared to Dunbar.......biggest thing about Zeke and Jackson. .....they are healthy and can stay on the field. Dunbar only gives you 3-4 games a season if lucky

I think you need to keep McFadden and Morris because of the injury factor to McFadden. If he's injured who would be our backup then? Morris may have to ride the pine for a bit but knowing McFadden's history his time will come to help our team as a backup.

I know we need pass rushers but there is opportunity out there. Guys like Crawford, Tapper and Mayowa can really come into their own in that time. I would even like to see Irving take some snaps at DE this yr. I'm also not very high on Ryan Russell. He seems very soft to me.

Both Morris and McFadden are good keeps. 2 headed HB if Elliott gets hurt. McFadden excels behind man blocking and Morris excels behind zone blocking. You run either or based on your matchup.

Hard to get rid of McFadden as he plays well in 3 phases of the offense.

Not a bad first list, I do think we carry atleast 1 less db, 11 is way too many espeically with needs on the defensive line. We may even go down to 10. Receiver I also dont seeing us carrying 6 unless Brown is that impressive. Its likely we go heavy on the dline so I think someone like McClain gets added and possibly a veteran like Jason Jones or Jeremy Mincey. Itll be interesting after the first 4 weeks.

Hopefully, Ryan Russell takes a big step forward in year two.

The opportunity for playing time is there with Randy Gregory suspended four games and DeMarcus Lawrence facing the same fate.

Multiple reports last season indicated defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli really like Russell, the foul mouthed coach was heard constantly berating the rookie DL to give it his all during training camp.

Will Russell rise?

Or will he be cast aside by one of our new acquisitions?

Dallas just drafted 9 rookies and signed 15 undrafted free agents.

As things move along this year( trades, injuries, competition), we will likely see 10-12 of these guys land of the roster come opening day.

Many of the players that get replaced will be older veterans, that's just how the NFL works, so I'm always keeping an eye on the oldest Cowboys on the roster.

Here they are:

1. QB Tony Romo - 36 - under contract through 2019, franchise QB, roster lock

2. LS L.P LaDouceur - 35 - under contract through 2017, franchise LS, roster lock

3. TE Jason Witten - 33 (34 in May) - under contract through 2017, franchise TE, Romo's BFF, roster lock

4. OT Doug Free - 32 - under contract through 2017 - starting RT, roster lock

5. CB Brandon Carr - 29 (30 in May) - under contract through 2016 (2017 voids), overpaid starting LCB, roster lock

6. Sean Lee - 29 (30 in July) - under contract through 2019, franchise LB, roster lock

7. CB Orlando Scandrick - 29 - under contract through 2018, starting RCB & Nickel slot CB, roster lock

8. OT Charles Brown - 29 - under contract through 2016, competing to be the swing tackle, questionable release

9. RB Darren McFadden - 28 (29 in August) - under contract through 2016, reserve RB, questionable release or trade

10. K Dan Bailey - 28 - under contract through 2020, franchise kicker, roster lock

11. SS Barry Church - 28 - under contract through 2016, starting SS, roster lock

12. Cedric Thornton - 27 (28 in June) - under contract through 2019, starting NT, roster lock

13. DT Terrell McClain - 27 (28 in July) - under contract though 2016, reserve DT, questionable release

14. DT Jack Crawford - 27 (28 in Sept) - under contract through 2016, reserve under tackle can also play DE, roster lock

15. WR Dez Bryant - 27 (28 in Nov) - under contract through 2019 - franchise WR, roster lock

16. LB Andrew Gachkar - 27 (28 in Nov) - under contract through 2016, special teams, reserve LB, roster lock

17. RB Alfred Morris - 27 (28 in Dec) - under contract through 2017, reserve RB, questionable release or trade

Players who have been churned since last season or who are currently not on a roster:

1. QB Brandon Weeden - 32 (33 in Oct) - released in 2015, former #2 QB, signed with Houston Texans

2. DE Jeremy Mincey - 32 - free agent, reserve RDE, played injured in 2015, remains unsigned

3. FB Tyler Clutts - 31 - free agent, starting FB, team needs to upgrade, could get minimum 1 year offer, remains unsigned

4. OG Mackenzy Bernadeau - 30 - free agent, game day reserve G/C, signed with Jacksonville Jaguars

5. DT Nick Hayden - 30 - free agent, starting NT, could get minimum 1 year contract offer, remains unsigned

6. DE Greg Hardy -27 (28 in July) - free agent, starting RDE, remains unsigned

7. OT Darrion Weems - 27 (28 in Sept) - practice squad player, signed with Denver Broncos

There isn't a lot of age remaining on the roster, but naturally, some of our best players are at the top of the list.

Of the 17 players still on the roster, 8 of them could be gone by next season.

Brandon Carr, Charles Brown, Darren McFadden, Barry Church, Terrell McClain, Jack Crawford, Andrew Gachkar and Alfred Morris.
