Our Cowboys, of course, look poised for a bye week and hopefully the #1 seed. But to me what is more interesting is the wildcard teams - it looks very likely that both are coming out of the NFC East (aka the strongest division in football).
If the season ended today, the wildcard games would feature the Commanders at Falcons and Giants at Lions. It's probable that one, if not both, of those NFC East teams would win that road game, setting us up for a divisional game against an NFC East rival. The Eagles are next in line - meaning that the top two wildcard spots plus the alternate are literally held right now by the other three teams in the NFC East.
I'm curious to hear opinions, but mine is: I'd rather not have to play an NFC East rival a third time in our opening round. These teams know each other way too well and we all remember the disastrous exit in 2007.
