Why else would you have Jane Slater telling everyone that the team loves Mike and he hasn’t lost the locker room? Not only that but you have Daks comment’s yesterday as well. They will let Quinn leave and let Mike coach out the final year. It’s the easiest option for Jerry. This team is not focused on Championships. Jerry is more focused on being involved and making small changes.
I dont think the Slater report has anything to do with it, but I agree. Slater was likely prodding players for thoughts on if this meant the end for MM, how they felt, etc, and they naturally came to his defense. It will surprise me if Jerry doesnt run it back....

Switzer
Gailey
Campo
Parcells
Wade
Garrett
Mike

These are the coaches Jerry has picked after he fired Jimmy. Parcells is the outlier. I don’t trust Jerry one bit to make the right decision when it comes to coaching.

Garrett interviewed for the same position as Harbaugh way back when. They thought he sounded like a good politician. Harbaugh has a good chance to win his second SB this year. That’s an organization that makes good coaching decisions.

I never thought for a second BigMac wouldn't be coaching next year, but after that game, how do they keep him? That wasn't your typical loss. That wasn't even a blowout loss where one team was overwhelmed. The Cowboys didn't show up. They didn't look prepared. When GB gets stomped next week by the 49ers, it will be all the more evident that it wasn't just a good game by the Packers.
I’m having a really tough time with this one.

Trying not to be too insane around here but this one stung. Too many things broke our way at the end…then to just give it away.

Ultimately, I think Dallas Cowboys fans just want to see Jones take some accountability for the way things have transpired for this team.

Jones is obviously the figurehead for Dallas's decision-making brain trust, but he's not entirely to blame. It's simply the decisions that come from the top, like sticking with Jason Garrett through too many years of mediocrity, and then seeing that Garrett isn't even really getting interviewed by NFL teams for a coaching gig these days.

It's sticking with Mike McCarthy when it's clear he's likely been part of the problem the last handful of years.

There are times in the NFL when being patient pays off. I don't fault Jerry Jones for wanting continuity or for believing in his guys. I simply fault him for trusting past the point of it being reasonable to do so. The Cowboys have missed out on a potential championship window due to Jones deciding to go down with the proverbial ship.

If they make no changes then you just can’t take this franchise serious anymore at all.

It would be a travesty.

Jane Slater just reports what she is hearing.

Running it back is going to lose some fans. I’m a diehard but I’d seriously consider skipping a few games next season.

lame duck coach maybe a lame duck qb’as well? That’s just giving up on a season.

I mean even if this team went 13-4 for the 1 seed how could you trust them in a playoff game
If Jerry had any clue how to fix this we wouldn’t be in this spot to begin with.

Don’t expect much.

The Cowboys could always look to hire a young up-and-comer, too. Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is the hottest name in this hiring cycle, and Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is gaining traction too. But what sense does it make to fire a coach as experienced as McCarthy for not being able to get it done and then pivot to someone with literally no experience leading a team? Johnson or Slowik might be great head coaches, but it’s impossible to deny that any team hiring them is gambling on being right in that evaluation.

That’s the underlying reason why teams rarely fire their head coach after winning seasons. In fact, the only coach to ever be fired after three straight 12+ win seasons was John Fox. And while the Broncos won the Super Bowl the very next year, they haven’t even made the playoffs since then.

Maybe that’s a trade the Cowboys are willing to make, but it shouldn’t be. Under McCarthy’s watch, this team has enjoyed unprecedented levels of consistency and success. The lack of postseason success is maddening, but Super Bowl teams aren’t built in one offseason. Firing McCarthy, as cathartic as it might feel in the moment, would drastically shift this team’s championship window, and not in a good way.

Not watching a single game next season if both Dak and MM are back. Until we actually start pushing back, nothing changes.
