We Are In A Bad Spot

We released Keyshawn and have no viable number 1 reciever here. The only available starting caliber guy other than Keyshawn is Terrell Owens. Eric Moulds will likely be released but will probably command more money than Keyshawn with about the same production. Javon Walker intrigues me, but I just can't see a deal being worked out. The Packers know how talented he is and I think they would be hard pressed to let him go for a 2nd round pick. On top of that, he is coming off a major injury so who even knows if he will be the same player...

The way the situation is now, Terrell Owens has all the bargaining power since he knows how desperate this team is for a WR. On top of that, the draft class is extremely thin at WR compared to that of other years. TO and Rosenhaus know all of this and we will probably end up over paying and locked up in a long term deal, if in fact one does get done with TO.

I was hesistant to support the signing of TO to a short term incentive laced deal, nevermind a long term one with guaranteed money. I still can't understand releasing Keyshawn, since it would seem to me we have more than enough cap room, even with whatever his proposed re-worked deal would be. If you are going to release your most productive reciever, at least have a deal locked up with his replacement.

I hope the Cowboys aren't just sitting on TO and are in contact with Green Bay about Walker. IMO if some deal doesn't get worked out by Friday, Dallas needs to jump back and re-sign Keyshawn ( on the premise that he would not hold a grudge and come back, not to mention another team hasn't signed him already) and draft a WR this year. I dont like Holmes or Jackson in the first round. If we decide to go this route give me Sinorice Moss in the 2nd or Greg Jennings in the 3rd. I think Jennings is a major sleeper at WR and both of these guys could be productive from day one.

We are in a tough spot, I'm hoping Bill and Jerry have something in the works and a contingency plan...:(

I have to say, even though we are only 4 days into FA, this team is no better than it was last year.

Simple solution. Either we sign TO or we don't and we resign Key.

Didn't Jones tell Keyshawn something like "Go out and find the best deal you can, then come back to me."?... Probably what he told Owens too.

I don't think Jones is the type to let the fans down.. Have you seen the Cowboys homepage? 20,000/30,000 people voted to sign Owens, we released Keyshawn, and hmm... we seem to have a pretty full piggy bank.

You know how crazy a Cowboys/Owens jersey would sell? Jones would rake in the dollars if TO's productive. I'd bet on TO dancing on the star next year... Teague-free.

So long as we stay away from Terrell, we will have a fighting chance.

That would be even worse. If he wanted to do an appropriate celebration, he would take out his pay check and kiss it, because TO dont give a damn about the Cowboys.

My friend was invited to an event on the same day in which it was taking place. He went into a tuxedo place and said he needed to rent a tux immediately. They charged him $200, way over what a normal tuxedo rental fee would be under normal circumstances. Do you get the idea? Simple supply and demand here... There is 1 available starting caliber WR and we are in desperate need of one. TO will command a huge contract in this situation; especially after he saw what a scrub like Randle-El got from the Skins.

In 2005 TO played 7 games, had 47 receptions for 763 yards and caught 6 TD's.

In 2005 Randle-El played in 16 games, had 35 receptions for 558 yards and caught 1 TD.

Do the math. TO expects a HUGE deal.

Yawn. Exactly.

I'm surprised to find I'm kind of bummed about Key being cut.

NYCowboy, that's exactly why Washington did that. LoL

Everyone knew in the first place that TO is not going to play anywhere for chump change. All Washington did was up the anty and made 'chump change' a $12million signing bonus.

.... also .... when is TO known for doing an appropriate celebration?

.... also .... Jerry Jones may be a crazy man, but he's not stupid. He has something up his sleeve for the WR spot.

What's the matter with you guys? WR's can be found in the draft and rookie WR's can step right in and start and play well in the NFL.

Most mock drafts have one or two WR's going in the first round. Many have us taking San Antonio Holmes at #18 or Chad Jackson at #18. Whats wrong with that? As long as you get one of the top 3 or 4 guys in the draft, you'll be OK.

Besides, why all the rush for a WR? Jerry said our FREE AGENT priorities would be O-Line and FS. He casually mentioned WR as a latter thought. You guys have put it on the front burner, yourselves.

Get with the COWBOYS program, not yours.......
