I haven't seen anything like that defense last night since the Jimmy era. I think they sent notice to the league that they are the meanest dogs in the neighborhood.

Dan Quinn is the architect of this and we already had to back the money truck up to his porch to keep him. Back that truck up again because he's going to get money thrown at him as soon as it is contractually legal to do so from every direction.

This is a dynasty level defense coming of age and gelling in front of our eyes. Don't let Quinn go. He should be the next Head Coach of the Cowboys. McCarthy could potentially retire on a SB win if that were to happen this year. Quinn would be the best possible replacement in my opinion.

You think that's bad... wait until he starts pulling a Coach Prime and recruiting some of his boys to his new team, including #11.

All things to consider in the future. For now, just worried about the season. Great job Coach Q! You know you're doing a good job when the fans already are demanding a raise after week one.

:laugh:Not something I'm prone to do, but in this case I can't believe what I'm seeing from the defense. It was too good.

Look if you're trying to assume we should get rid of McCarthy for Dan Quinn you might be barking up the wrong tree.. And don't act like he doesn't have the talent he's not creating magic with nothing.. I know his scheme is really good and he's got the parts to run his scheme but there's a lot of talent on this defense dude it's not just his scheme but he's been strong and helping put those people on the roster but that doesn't mean one of his cronies someone who knows his defense couldn't run it if he leaves.. I mean that's why you create a coach tree some dudes know this defense and know how to run it so let's not be scared if Dan Quinn leaves it's all over.. I know people are trying to say McCarthy could end up getting fired or we should fire McCarthy on purpose just to keep Quinn and I'm not on board with that.. Now if it happens naturally and Mike McCarthy leaves like you said retires sure that's a no brainer.. But right now I'd like it the way it is and I don't really want to think about the future.

Yeah well I have faith in the fact that Jerry Jones will pay these guys enough and he'll have them under contract where they can't leave.. That's the thing about contracts they belong to the owner they belong to the team just as the players do so you can't take everyone.. By the way these players aren't stupid if Dan queen gets a job somewhere and he has to like get it turned around it might not be immediate they might be leaving a good situation for a worse situation and I think they're about money and winning so they would stay here

My guess is it's going to roll like those 90's deep Defensive Teams with salary cap. Jerry will lock up the big ones, and one-by-one, all the depth will leave and get to cash in on their time with an elite unit. Hopefully there will be some Super Bowls on their resume too. And hopefully we can replace all of them with similar talent this time.

Can't stop him from chasing his dream. Hopefully he wants to stay in Dallas, but this year looks like it could set up for him to elevate to a HC gig if that is what he wants. Honestly, I prefer McCarthy as HC.

Dan does not want to be a head coach again. It is obvious.

If he is offered an HC position he likes he is gone. Nothing we can do about it.

Our defense is insane. Someone will give him another shot at HC.

I wouldn't say that for certain, but maybe.

He's getting more pub as the defensive coordinator here than he would as the head coach anywhere. Especially with a defense like this.

And Jerry is paying him.

So hopefully he's happy to be the asskickingest coordinator in the NFL for years.

He had the chance to leave twice, and hasn't....MM is on a short leash if things don't work out this year

Cowboys can't let him go. Make up a title. Pay him HC money. He can't walk.
Quinns new title: 'Head Coach In Waiting' (HCIW).

Recall how that was the trend by a number of the top Division I college football programs back in the 2000s decade.
Wisconsin___HC Barry Alvarez, HCIW Brett Bielema
West Virginia___HC Bill Stewart, HCIW Dana Holgorsen
Texas___HC Mack Brown, HCIW Will Muschamp
Oregon___HC Mike Bellotti, HCIW Chip Kelly
Florida State___HC Bobby Bowden, HCIW Jimbo Fisher

I really like Quinn too. Best DC we’ve had since Wannstedt was here. IMO, in team sports winning playoff games always means your team success means you lose coaches. That’s just the way it goes.

But also IMO- man it’s just one game. I would wait until we actually accomplish something before speculating about next year. We’ve played one game.

I still think he is holding out for the Pete Carroll Era to end in Seattle so he can take over. And judging by how they looked in week 1, he might be onto something
