We caught a couple of breaks in the schedule

A couple of things to remember going into the final two weeks:

* We get two more days rest than the Commanders do going into the Sunday night game next week.

* In week 17, all of the important games (except for GB vs. Az) has an early start. And, even though NO has all but secured the no. 1 seed, Minnesota is at risk of losing the no. 2 seed to Philly. This means that, as long as Philly wins their next game at Den, Minn. will have high incentive to win their final game vs. NYG.

Over the last few years, things haven't gone our way in Dec/Jan. This year, the way things are playing out, we are getting help from the late season schedule.

We need to win out and then win our first playoff game in Dallas (against eagles or packers).

I agree, we don't have an excuse to split the last two games ( or heaven forbid, lose both).

However, it's nice to know that the schedule is starting to favor us. Considering how tough things looked going into December, the win over the Saints has put us into an ideal scenario during the final stretch.

The Week 17 schedule is not set in stone yet.

That being said, I expect the PHI/DAL game to be on SNF SO Min will still be playing all out vs the Giants.

if they dont beat the Skins after playing on MNF... then the win over the Saints is the same as the win over the Colts a few yrs ago, just another good regular season win!

There is no SNF or MNF game in Week 17. So the only thing that will change the schedule is weather.

I don't consider facing SD, NO,Wash and Philly as doing us any favor. We play SD come off a short week to face the Saints on the road.

The schedule from here on out is better than the brutal three-game stretch after txgiving.

Only because we beat the Saints is it looking better. Dec as a whole Dallas has one of the toughest schedule in the league which is one reason some gave us no chance.

As Barry Horn notes in his ***BANNED-URL*** Sports Media Blog, there's a great chance the season finale between the Cowboys and Eagles will be moved to Sunday night. The way it's looking now, that game will probably have playoff implications for both teams.

But if the Colts are still going for an undefeated season (against the Bills), that game could also be in the mix. When in doubt, go with the big-market teams. A Cowboys-Eagles game with something on the line seems like a no-brainer.

This is for 2007 but the policy has not changed.
http://www.nfl.com/schedules/tv/flexible

Flexible Scheduling

Allows teams to play their way onto the Sunday night schedule
Last season, the NFL implemented for the first time in its history a primetime "flexible scheduling" element on Sundays in Weeks 10-15 and in Week 17.
Flexible scheduling ensured quality matchups on Sunday night in those weeks and gave surprise teams a chance to play their way onto primetime.
The 2007 NFL schedule will again utilize flexible scheduling in Weeks 11-17. The NBC Sunday night time slot for "flex" weeks will list the game tentatively scheduled for Sunday night.
Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game will be moved to an afternoon start time. Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday, Saturday or Monday nights.
Just as the six major college football conferences have done for many years, the NFL will have the flexibility to move the start times of games on Sundays, using a 12-day notice format.
For example, a game scheduled for a Sunday could move from a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff to an 8:15 p.m. start, but the change would be made and announced no later than the prior Tuesday, 12 days prior.
The NFL has commonly moved games between 1:00 p.m. ET and 4:15 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoons, and the NFL now employs flexible scheduling to include one of its primetime packages of games - on Sunday evenings.
Sunday afternoon games, as in the past, can still be moved between 1:00 and 4:05 or 4:15 p.m. ET.
In Week 17, in order to ensure a Sunday night game with playoff implications, the decision to move the start time may be made on six days notice.

NFL Flexible Scheduling 101

  • Begins Sunday of Week 11
  • In effect during Weeks 11-17
  • Only Sunday afternoon games are subject to being moved into the Sunday night window.
  • The game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night during flex weeks will be listed at 8:15 p.m. ET.
  • The majority of games on Sundays will be listed at 1:00 p.m. ET during flex weeks except for games played in Pacific or Mountain Time zones which will be listed at 4:05 or 4:15 p.m. ET.
  • No impact on Thursday, Saturday or Monday night games.
  • The NFL will decide (after consultation with CBS, FOX, NBC) and announce as early as possible the game being played at 8:15 p.m. ET. The announcement will come no later than 12 days prior to the game. The NFL may also announce games moving to 4:05 p.m. ET and 4:15 p.m. ET.
  • Week 17 start time changes could be decided on 6 days notice to ensure a game with playoff implications.
  • The NBC Sunday night time slot in "flex" weeks will list the game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night.
  • Fans and ticket holders must be aware that NFL games in flex weeks are subject to change 12 days in advance (6 days in Week 17) and should plan accordingly.
  • NFL schedules all games.
  • Teams will be informed as soon as they are no longer under consideration or eligible for a move to Sunday night.

Well, according to this you are right about SNF games. But I know for sure there is no MNF on Week 17, as it gives some teams an unfair sadvantage.

As for SNF, currently there is no game slated to be played at that time slot on Week 17.

Here is why that author is not credible: there is a rule that two teams can not play each other twice in the same season on SNF. And the Cowboys/Eagles already played on SNF this season.

that's because they're waiting to see what game to flex. For the Week 17 game, NBC can choose what game to flex up to 6 days before gametime. During Week 17, there are no protected games.

No such rule exists.

All games on week 17 are fair game.
