We could have a STRONG offensive line

Now bear with me here, in no way am I saying our line will be even above average. If your looking for a prediction, ill say somewhere in the 15 range for a season ending ranking. With that said, Free is really the only guy on our line with strength questions, assuming the line is Smith Leary Fred Bern Free. I'm hoping Mack plays with some fire this year, he is a large man and should not be getting bullied ever by a player not named Wilfork Suh or Ngata. With a strong back like Murray, and a strong offensive line, we could be the bullies for the first time in awhile if lady luck is on our side.

Yawn....these overly unrealistic threads are every bit as annoying as someone bashing the team.

It is very realistic. Leary and Frederick are totally different dudes then Livings and Costa. Smith can only get better. Free knows its now or never. Mackenzie I've got nothing

If Arkin starts the right side of the line is gonna be very weak, literally.

Top five offensive line is not necessary. What is necessary is to open lanes for the running backs and to protect Romo to allow the routes to open up with the WRs.

As poorly as this line has played in the past, if they can just become consistent in the running game, that might make a huge difference.

To me it is about points per game for both sides of the ball. If the defense can trim 3.5 points from what they allowed last year of 25.0 per game and the offense can add those 3.5 to the 23.5 per game, the season can be pretty successful.

That may be unrealistic. But get to the tournament and the Ravens showed a hot QB and some D can win it all.

Im gonna bump this thread instead of making a new one. With the signing of Brandon Moore, The O line is starting to look like a strength. And I cant believe i just typed that. The added protection will make Romo an All Pro caliber Quarterback and Demarco Murray a Pro Bowl runningback. Book it. Im very high on the cowboys post season chances. 11-5, with one playoff victory is my expectation, while participating in the NFC Championship is the current goal. Please Understand that our skill positions are some of the best in the league, and even have the depth to contend with the best in the league. An Oline that is > or = 2007 could really make us instant contenders.

I have been anti Jerry and skeptical on Garrett in the past and i just want it on record of me giving kudos to them for their decisions and signings this offseason/preseason. Changing to a 4-3. Coaching hires. Draft picks. Giving up playcalling. Its all working wonderfully gentleman.. and just when i was losing hope.

Americas Team is back.

No more excuses for the fans. Everything us armchair coaches have been screaming for for years has been done, so if we have a bad season we really don't have the right to complain. That being said, if healthy I expect us to have a very good season. I don't see how anyone else can compete with us in the NFC East. The NFC North really only has the Packers and they're gonna have a tough time with their OL this season. The NFC South is strong with the Falcons and the Saints with Payton back. And the NFC West has the 49ers and a Harvin-less Seahawks. I think we have a chance. Still don't see us beating the 49ers, but who knows?

The good ol' 'not in any way even average' sunshine is pumping in this thread. I can hardly stand all this positivity.

The OP started this thread prior to Bmoore signing... my exceeding optimism is a culmination of the last 4-6 months. And yes. I am NOW very excited for this team and its post season chances and abilities.

p.s. Sarcasm isnt always required.

I'm ready to call it average to above average. Leary is a complete dark horse and seemingly playing lights out, along with Free who's back to his (old) old ways.

Two new developments that weren't seen coming for the entire offseason, add a quality rookie and an esteemed vet to that mix and there's really only one spot that's an uncertainty.

I try to only use it when a post or a criticism is so silly I feel embarrassed tackling it on its merits. But I'm glad you're happy about the Moore signing. I am, too.

I feel much better now that we have added Moore to the OLine. I think we can be somewhat strong in the middle of the line now with Moore-Fred-Leary. The one thing that always concerns me every year is the defense being able to stop the run and getting team off the field in third down situations. I hope Scandrick came to play this year. I also hope we can pick up some depth along the DLine during cut downs.

not even close. So after two years with one of the worst O lines in the NFL Jerruh finally signs a top tier O Lineman in FA. So we should just accept that and shut up? BS. We could have had Brian Waters 2 years ago. We could have had others who have shown they were much better then Bernie and Livings in the last 2 years.

True, or we could have taken our time and truly developed an offensive line with personnel that fit the scheme well...which is how every team with good oline has approached its development.

We were not interested in signing big name FA's just keeping our own. Not saying that was right or wrong that is just the way we operated.

Do you think Jerry is paying him like a top tier O Lineman? I really doubt that.

One thing I know from being a fan for many years is that training camp/preseason success and reports are NOT enough to predict season success.
