This may be true, but it's amazing what a QB playing at a high level can do for many coaches' careers. Look at what Daniel Jones, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield have done for their coaches.

There was zero chance of this happening.

He played seven years for the Pats and won three super bowls with them. He’s in the Patriots Hall of Fame.

Even before Belechik left, Vrabel had been tied to rumors that he would be the next HC. While he was the head coach in Tennessee he had even said he wanted to eventually return to New England, which is wild.

They had to do a Rooney rule interview or he would have been hired faster.
