With all that went wrong in yesterdays game we could have won going away if we just eliminate the penalties. Now I know this falls directly at the head coaches feet but let me ask you this. It has been like this under the last 5 coaches. So is this still a case of Jerry not caring, or not letting his head coach clean things up? What happened to all the rules that were supposed to be put in? I am afraid I know the answer but wanted to see if you guys had any insight?

At this point I have no explanation why the penalties come week after week year after year. One thing I have thought about is due refs just come into the games expecting Dallas to commit penalties due to their history of committing so many?

It simply is Jerry's world.

When the owner is the GM and also want a heavy say in day to day football operations, players do not fear a coach benching them.

I think back to a year or two ago, playing the Giants Col. Coughlin benched Bradshaw for the first half of a very important game against because Bradshaw had violated some team rule. I thought about how I wish our coaches had that same power.

Penalties - Fines, yelling at players or saying "We have to fix this" just doesn't work. Nothing eats at these players pride more than benching, being told what you are doing is not good for the team so we are better off without you playing. Pride and really wanting to get back onto the field will do more for fixing penalties than anything else.

I find the if there is any possibility of us committing a penalty on a play the refs will call it. I'm watching NFL Networks NFL Replay of Sundays game and the calls against us were mostly ticky-tack stuff. I know the illegal motion stuff has to get called but most everything else they call happens on both sides of the ball not just Dallas. Some of the stuff Baltimore got away with and we got called for really irks me especially after watching the replay. No way does Claiborne interfere with Smith on the TD. If anything it is offensive PI because Smith used his elbow to shove Claiborne to the ground. Another example, Kenyon Coleman gets called for hands to the face on third and goal and it leads to a TD instead of a FG. But watch the Ravens first 3rd down conversion of the game and Hatcher practically gets his helmet ripped off by the facemask yet no flag. On the play right before Romo's INT Bernard Pollard comes up and blatantly hits Kevin Ogletree and stops his route while the ball is in the air! No flag again! Go back and watch the Jacoby Jones kickoff return. Albright gets an obvious block in the back in clear view of the official yet no flag! This is as far as I've watched the game but these are just a couple of the examples I've seen.

It's been like this for years. The bad calls at the beginning of our 2010 season got us into a hole would couldn't escape. I know you are supposed to be able to overcome bad calls as a team if you are good enough, but when there is such parity in the league all it takes is a few bad calls to swing the balance of the game to your opponent.

One other thing that irks me is that many times I've seen that the ref does not reach for the flag until the outcome of the play has been decided. This leads be to believe that if the play turns out bad for Dallas' opponent the flag will be thrown. If it turns out good, no flag. That is leading me to suspect officiating bias. Bring back the replacement refs. At least they we bad for everybody not just us. There, now I feel better.
