We did address the defense in the 1st round, just like coach Garret said.

Remember when we wanted to go defense in the 1st round? Bosa, Ramsey, Buckner were all possibilities, but in the end we did draft the best player for the defense. Ezekiel Elliott.

I remember coach Garret saying how drafting a RB meant having the ball longer, which results in a well-rested defense that will be fresh and making plays all game long. Turns out, the Ivy League product was right. Our front-office/coaching have been really great with their decision making. Time to stop questioning them for once, and enjoy the ride. With our average age, looks like it'll be a fun decade or so.

We were top 3 in time of possession last year.

At some point, you do actually have to play defense.

I think he was the right fit for *this* team though.

The defense last year wasn't awful. The offense only broke 20 points like 4-5 times though.

I agree EE has been a big reason the defense is playing average this year. Joey Bosa is looking better than I realized for the Chargers after one game. Ramsey is just a guy this year. Buckner is just a guy so it seems we did the right thing six games into their rookie year. This is a really strange draft as the Elliott/Smith/Prescott/Collins pick could make this the best draft since the Jimmy Johnson era.
