We hate on JG, some more than others and some even clamored for Jon Gruden. Why?

You could argue that Gruden built up the Raiders team that his Bucs faced in the Super Bowl. Chucky brought a much needed attitude to that Bucs team that put them over the top.

For one season then 45-51. I'm fine with Gruden in Oakland. Always kind of liked the Raiders, Madden and Snake. Pretty cool dudes. One of the best best RB I ever watched was a Raider, Bo. A shame his career was cut short

Was that your goal with the post? It sounds a bit narcissistic, like an attention grab.

More of a cage rattler really. Love to raise rabble. Shake the tree, see what falls out. Heck,we butted heads a few times on the old forum. Nothing new

In your zeal to defend the mediocre, you are losing sight of why teams play football: it is to win the SB, TO BE THE BEST not to be #16

NO HEAD COACH has EVER WON THE SB after 7 years with the same team

NEVER

No sane person believes Garrett is going to make NFL history by breaking this record (remember I'm only talking about sane people so this may not make sense to you)

Whether Garrett will ever "learn" enough coaching to even get to an NFC CG is doubtful but it certainly will not happen with the cowboys

Tom Landry 1960 began, 1972 won. Didn't look up others like Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh

Would have like to have seen the Growler here as HC. Would like to see any number of coaches here for that matter. With JJ as GM, who would want to come here if The Tuna couldn't get it done? I was a Garrett supporter for much of his coaching career. As OC under Phiilips, he was play calling and game play adjustment to the D showed promise, however, that seemed to have abruptly changed. But after this year, and even some of last year, (despite their record,) I have lost interest in what he can do or not do as HC... I have neck strain from SMH.
Clarifying my post: He does have good qualities - player support, believes in and stays with his, "process", and doesn't get caught up in competing with JJ for sound bites. He might have been more successful had he been in a traditionally groomed role, but his legacy will be one of inconsistency. He either rankles silently under JJ or has settled for a paycheck. At least he doesn't air the team's dirty laundry.

I've read a lot of complaints about Garrett and I have read a lot of comments defending Garrett against criticism over the past few years. What I haven't seen is a compelling argument for why Garrett is the right person for the job. About the best explanation I've seen anyone come up with is "he's the best we can get with Jerry".

Is there a more compelling argument to keep Garrett than that?

'could be worse' That seems to be a top reason for keeping him around. They can go from average to... below average.

Ouch, man questioning my sanity? Really dude? I would say you're just a wee bit over invested in the Cowboys when you get to the point where yours is the only opinion that matters. I may be wrong but doesn't OCD fall under psychosis

One completely random note.

As noted in other threads, there seems to be an influx of new posters from the DC site, which closed their forum.

Those new posters largely seem like Cowboys apologists....... defending most decisions the franchise has made.

Some of them are. Some just see negativity as being anti Cowboys. Most of them are reasonable.

So once again no answer?

You keep saying you're looking for facts yet ignore them when presented

I don't see too many apologists among the refugees?!

Dude, I presented the facts very clearly. 8 teams have had more success than the Cowboys between 2011 and 2017. That includes 16 game regular season and playoffs. I can give you all the numbers if you like but it would be a good exercise for you to do. It's a 32 team league. What part of that don't you understand. Of the 31 other teams 8 have had more success while JG has been HC. You can describe that as failure if you want, I understand you will settle for nothing but a SB, and JG is in no way responsible for any type of success this team has had. I have an answer for you Patriots. Check out their fanzone

The apologists were in the minority over on the old board. That said, they didn't tolerate criticism very well.

What is your definition of success?

Holy, the ex DC forum group all jumped ship. Note** there is considerably more doom and gloom here :muttley:. They have cool emoticons, they should be less gloomy not more
