I wouldn't say most people grow out of it...I can't help but notice that you're unfamiliar with Russell's Theory of Types.

Criticizing someone for talking about something and criticizing people generally for criticizing others for what they're talking about are criticisms at different orders of abstraction. Failing to distinguish between different levels of abstraction is figuratively and literally sophomoric, as in college sophomores still think it's a clever move but most people grow out of it.
Many, but not most.
Maybe there's a chart that know's everything about everybody and we can see definitively!
