We have become the Houston Oilers?

For those old enough to remember. Are we in the same purgatory that the Oilers went through? So many times they would look like a contender to only flame out in some ridiculous way that would break their fans spirit. The playoff loss to the Bills back in the 90s was the last straw. They had like a 35 point lead and Buffalo came back to beat them. Their fans finally just started walking away.

I remember that loss like it was yesterday. My pops and I were at Grandma's house and the old man said its over let's drive home. By the time we got home it was another story all together.

At least those old Oiler teams were lovable. We are a bunch of fugazis, pimping all the glamor and glitter, pretending like they earned it. Hotboyz never left. Better yet, with this ownership and coaching they never will. These guys have not an ounce of humility.

Not to split hairs here, but two of those TD catches by Buffalo shouldn’t have counted. Both times the receiver who caught the ball stepped out of bounds and the announcers caught it. They even showed replays. Of course the meltdown will always be remembered but it cost me my Texas Super Bowl. Lol

I don't know if we are at that point.. and with social media and the commercialisation of football now I'm not sure Cowboys will ever lose their fan base..

But I don't know.. how much failure can you endure before people just switch off. It is legit hard to be a Cowboys fan.. you are just the butt of every joke.. I mean there is literally a world famous meme started in 2019 that shows our cycle and sadly it comes true every single season.

I don't think we will ever turn off but maybe.. I don't know. I do feel there is more anger than I have seen before even after big exits. I'd be keen to see whether there are stats on the average age of fans.. I can't see how younger fans would choose this franchise to follow.

It's sure easy to make the connection to that team.

All this reminds me more of the early early Cowboys when they earned the nickname - NEXT YEARS CHAMPS.

The Oilers of the late 70s were real good teams that lost back to back championship games to the mighty Steelers. Both those Houston teams got a lot further than we have the last 28 years. They weren’t getting knocked of by 6 and 7 seeded teams at home. Those Oiler teams could have kicked our last three 12 win teams all over the field. Could you imagine our defense trying to stop Earl Campbell? The Cowboys would have folded worse than they did on Sunday with the Tyler Rose running over them. Lol
