2007 Record: 13-3
2008 Media Narrative: TO imploded, players picking sides

2009 Record: 11-5
2010 Media Narrative: Coaching turmoil, Wade Phillips lost the team.

2014 Record: 12-4
2015 Media Narrative: Greg Hardy is tearing the team apart, constant side show.

2016 Record: 13-4
2016 Media Narrative: Ezekiel Elliott side show which will surely evolve as the season goes on.

For the past 10 years since we have become a competitive team again, we have been absolutely unable to string together winning seasons. It seems like whenever we taste success, the media, amongst other factors, work to change the narrative and create a side show in Dallas.

This Ezekiel Elliott situation has the potential to create a chemistry issue with this team. Last season, Elliott was the life of the locker room, full of life and this year...he seems distracted. The off the field drama could justifiably be weighing on him. The media has taken notice and if this team lets it...this situation could boil over and the media could once again assist in writing the story for this team and keeping us from achieving the long term success that so many fans crave.

These stories don't always have to be accurate but when you're dying for ratings as ESPN and other sports based media are, if there is any blood in the water, you can guarantee the media will over exaggerate it. This week it is "Dak is a JAG" and "Zeke quit on his team". Give it time and we will start hearing stories how "players are sick or Zeke's antics" or "Cowboy players secretly want Romo back". This is just too predictable at this point.

Is Garrett aware of the storm brewing if any part of the Broncos loss becomes a trend?

The honeymoon is over, he media is looking for blood. The only way to stop the narrative is to win and not let the media tear this team apart.

The media puts the chum in the water and are also the sharks that come after it.

Last Sunday morning I watched maybe 10 minutes of the morning pregame shows. I will probably do the same this week. Especially since we are on Monday night. I may watch that, depending on what time I get home. Which should be in time to catch most of it, but won't pay attention to all the negative BS they spew. Mute button is your friend. If it is constructive criticism or something like that, yes, will listen to it. But not their garbage crap they spew as usual.

Yeah, blaming some of this on the media is bizarre.

For one, the 2015 season didn't derail over Hardy. It derailed because we had to play slop at QB after Romo got hurt. That's a pretty poor example.

A bit too early to eat the cheese.

Well one thing is true, Zeke is definitely not the same guy as he was last year.

However you want to look at it, he was most of the energy on this team last year. Not the same guy so far with whatever issues you want to blame.

That's your opinion.

Every game was still close, the season was at a crossroads when Hardy returned from his suspension and the pictures were leaked. I remember he made a joke about Brady's wife and the media went on a firestorm. I remember reading an article showing Jeremy Mincey calling him out so yes his signing had a negative impact on team chemistry....it may have not been the biggest factor of the 2014 collapse but it had a part.

I minimize it entirely.

My opinion is based more from what I see on here.

It had little part. We lost because we didn't have Romo. It's really that simple.

The team did have 4 consecutive winning season from 2006-2009.

2006: 9-7.. playoffs...so-so playoff team lost in Seattle (the fumbled FG)
2007: 13-3...playoffs...faded down the stretch, then lost to SB Champs in Dallas (ughh!)
2008: 9-7...missed wildcard, 1st place schedule, ..yes, some disarray for sure.
2009: 11-5...playoffs, but fading oline and aging defense. 1-1 in playoffs

2010: fading team with 1st place schedule, then QB hurt and out for year early on. team gave up on Wade.

2011-2013 the team was just hot garbage. Crap oline and historically bad defenses--basically 4-12 teams that made it somehow to 8-8...dark times

2014: 12-4....good team, young oline, finally on the uptick. 1-1 in playoffs..so close to more
2015: drop-off was due to losing our starting QB combined with (to a far lessor degree) a 1st place schedule
2016: 13-3. good team with last place schedule and still work to do on D....future looking bright

2017: to be determined. 1st place schedule, D is still not there...we'll see...

I remember getting embarrassed at Philadelphia early in the season during the year we won XXVII.

P.S. this team suffers from a severe lack of speed on offense

Good write up.

I'm sure you get my point though.

Every time we have a good...double digit win season, something always happens the next season to derail us. The media plays their part...as we saw with the TO and Hardy drama. I will agree that sometimes we just weren't good enough and/or injuries ran their course.

Right now, I am at the point where I am expecting the worst...though hoping for the best.

Let's see how this team responds. If they learn from this and get better, then this is only one game. If they let this one loss destroy them, then they don't have the moral fiber they need to play in the NFL. Dak and Zeke had amazing rookie seasons. Adversity was eventually guaranteed to hit them. How they handle it is huge.

Can we see a bigger sample first
Exactly. Your post Gameover should resonate forum wide. So many fans ready to jump off the ledge. You should just copy and paste this post to every thread. Long season. 14 games left last I checked.

After game 5 or 6, then get back to me. No real trend for 2017 has been established. We're 1-1 and tied for first in the division. R-E-L-A-X!

...All I know is that Dallas lost a game last Sunday, badly...poor performance almost all the way around... it stung!...but now it's Tuesday, I'm over the loss and ready to move on to game 3...It's gonna be a long season...probably with many more ups and downs...Hopefully they come back highly agitated and fired up against the Cardinals.
