If we were planning on relying on Witten this season anyway (without drafting or grooming a young replacement), we'd probably be better off adding a vet FA on the cheap and continue to let our young guys develop. I don't think Witten would've provided much that a vet FA couldn't.

Witten earned that luxury. The TE free agent market wasn't exactly loaded with talent. I'm telling you guys, Witten's production is going to be hard to replace. If it was so easy then old man Witten wouldn't be in the top 10.
