I’m disgusted at seeing “ we have no money” or “ we can’t afford them”. This thread is to show you that you’re wrong. The Vikings had 16 million in cap space going into FA and they signed DT Tomlinson and are now signing CB William Jackson. That’s two immediate solid starters. We had more cap space than the Vikings.

The Chiefs had 11 million going into FA and were able to sign an all pro guard.

The Bucs had very little going into FA and re-signed Gronk , Barrett.

Keep telling yourself that Dallas has no money. The truth is they’re scared and don’t know how to evaluate players. You have people celebrating comp picks for what? Where has that lead? This organization has hit rock bottom. Prepare to get your *** whooped twice, by Fitzpatrick and the WFT.

Just a minor note: Teams don't have to cap compliant till tomorrow at 4pm. So some of the above moves may fit under their current cap space depending on how the cap hits are played with or there will be some releases/trades prior to those deals actually being signed.

Every deal right now isn't written in ink. Players can change their mind till the teams can actually sign them in 23.5 hours.

You may be correct idk. I have to look it up myself however the amount of free money in future years which is just as important. The cowboys are a team that has restructured contracts and now in year 1 of a new qb deal. That is a bad recipe for the cap. I’m not sure how much flexibility they have on making creative deals.

I don’t want to make excuses for the cowboys as the front office has created the mess, but I do believe it’s a mess.

I thought it was "We have the meats". Oh....that's Arby's.

We have a $6 billion dollar brand and that is what counts guys, lol.
BINGO...and that is Really what JJ and Stephen wish to protect..the brand.."the company"...not making the team any better because they make billions no matter what we do on Sunday. They have no real motivation to change anything as long as the brand is worth what it is.

It is not a question of having the CAP space. Teams can create CAP space. Look at the Saints. They were close to $70 million over the CAP but they will get under by the deadline. It may mean cutting players or restructuring/extending contracts, but they will get there. The Cowboys made room by restructuring the offensive linemen, but so far have avoided touching the DLaw, Cooper and Zeke contracts. That is a smart choice in my opinion. I have a feeling they will eventually get around to converting some of Cooper's salary to bonus to lower his CAP impact this year, but I think they are trying to avoid doing the same with Lawrence. They may be thinking about exiting his contract next year. And Zeke's the year after.

The Cowboys are not close to a Super Bowl so there is no sense in mortgaging the future for 2021. They are in deep enough already with Dak. This is why I advocated the Cowboys signing just 1 quality free agent, a DT like Tomlinson. He would make the entire defense better. Use the draft to stock up on DBs. Instead, the Cowboys will sign 4 or 5 guys they found at K-Mart, most of whom won't play or make much of a contribution.

And by the way, the Cowboys rookie pool this year is going to be about $7.5 million, so you have to account for that.

But not the desire

one problem with your theory. We haven't spent in Free agency since 2012 when we signed Carr. What was the excuse all those years for not brining in top talent? Its a travesty what the FO has done.

they dunno how to evaluate players because they have too many cooks in the kitchen. Its that simple. One hand doesnt know what the other is doing. So they all defer to Jerry and Stevie. He overrules them in the end. Its a dysfunctional mess.

Jerrys problem is he wants EVERYONES opinion on a player/prospect. That is bad in this case. Because we have too many voices in the room telling him 15 different things. That is why you MUST have a real GM making player decisions/evaluations in the end.

The Bucs weren’t close after the 2019 season either right? How about the Cowboys after the 2016 13-3 season? Were we “ close” enough for you then? Who’d we sign?
