He had pretty decent coverage on Miles but we tested him. Austin seem to look pretty good but where was Sam Hurd allnight or was it went didn't have anyone to get him the ball.

What I liked about Miles was how he was catching the ball with such tight coverage. He was able to use his body some times to get position on the ball. Cason impressed, but Miles got the better of him.

If Miles doesn't move past Hurd on the depth chart, it's a shame.

Good point...I thought Cason definitely impressed early in the game and overall had a good debut...But as the night went on, Austin did get the better of him.

A lot of predraft debate between guys like Cason and Jenkins...Gotta say though, Cason looks like a keeper

I know it's only one game, but Hurd seemed to be having trouble getting off the line in a couple of those passes to Austin.....

It's hard to tell when the ball doesn't go to a guy, but Austin was 10 yrds downfield and hurd was still handfighting about 3 yrds downfield.

Worries me about Hurd a little.... Crayton looked very good though.

I was really high on Cason and he didn't dissapoint he had very tight coverage on Austin but Austin just wanted the ball more. he will be fine. As for Hurd is it me or does he have problems getting seperation from the Dbs. They always seem to be in good position when the ball comes his way.

I think we have our 2nd receiver in Crayton who I think we have a really big year.

I am not sure I am highly impressed with Cason, but I guess he wasn't that bad. But I surely like how Mike Jenkins played. I thought he was getting to play with First team only because he was a first Rounder. But Now I think its because of his performance.

Its very early, I like his pick over Cason. Because, admit it, if a 3rd reciever on Sandiego was beating Jenkins like that, we would all be pissed.

Ding, ding, ding! Cason didn't look bad. He was always right "there" with Austin. But you're right. If a guy with 0 career catches repeatedly caught balls against our first round corner, we wouldn't be focusing how he "almost" prevented the reception. We'd be wringing our hands.

I really like Austin's performance, but I still think it's a close competition between him and Hurd.

I think we'll all know a bit more after next week's game.

I was thinking the same thing. I thought perhaps they didn't want to give Pacman reps with the first team because he's still not reinstated. But Jenkins looked much better than Pacman. Maybe that's been the case in practice too.

That may very well be true. Jenkins is the least talked about first rounder we've ever had.

thats fine, but Jenkins looked better to me...I think we definitely made the right decision on draft day

and Cason should have probably been flagged on the one pass he did defense, especially with the way they were calling PI on some of our guys

totally agree RC

and honestly I wasnt impressed with Cason...made some nice tackles, but if you give up the completions you should at least do that...he reminded me of Jacque Reeves last night...some wont like that comment, but its true

Why'd he remind you of Jacques Reeves? He played mostly close man coverage and had tight coverage the entire time. Can't say that reminds me of Jacques Reeves at all.

So just giving up a completion reminds you of Reeves. I just thought there was something more to the comparison than that.

On some of those plays, it seemed like Austin would stop and wait for the ball to come to him while it was in the air rather than going after it. This allows the corners to close the gap and break up the play or at least make an immediate tackle.

Reeves wasny beat like a rented mule on alot of the completions he gave up either

the bottom line though is Cason may end up fine, but I like Jenkins alot better and am glad we picked him over Cason...I think Jenkins could be a special CB, I doubt Cason is ever more than just ok

Reeves problem was that he'd give a huge cushion (or was required to give a huge cushion) then wouldn't react to the ball close the gap when needed. I didn't see that at all in Cason. He was always in tight coverage and trying to make a play on the ball. Miles just used his body and get the better of him.
