We left a lot of points on the field on offense

1. Chip shot FG missed - 3 pts.

2. Dropped TD in the endzone by Austin, so we settled for the FG - 4 pts net difference.

3. Drop by Austin in the beg of the 3rd quarter on Romo pass. Austin would have easily scored. - 7 points.

That's 14 points right there.

I'd like to think that normally we don't screw up like that - and we don't.

Not to mention, had Newman been playing, we don't give up 27 points on defense, either.

I'm not making excuses for our poor execution, and it was poor execution.

But let's not get overly pessimistic either. We are going to play much, much better than today in two weeks time.

We had what-- 1 yard rushing Woods?

My God a college team could pick up one measily yard.

The past month has been borderline dreadful.

This wasn't really a matter of poor execution.

It was simply a matter of us being very basic coaching wise. We didn't blitz, we ran 4 all day and soft zone coverage. We ran a very simple game plan. That is why Collins had plenty of time to throw.

One thing that was key is that the Commanders went max-protect even when we rushed 4 lineman in basic d.

I know, MW. We didn't play well.

But honestly said, the score line would be much different had we executed on a simple FG, and if Austin simply catches 2 very catchable balls.

End of the day, Washington wanted it much more than we did.

I expected them to win pretty easily. But all I'm saying, is that if we make a couple (and I mean literally a couple) of not so difficult catches, hit an easy FG, the story line looks much, much better.

14 points were left on the field at least...plus 3

17 would look better

I really don't know what to think about Austin. He had that bad pre-season game. And he didn't do well catching this game.

The coaches see him on a daily basis, so they have a clear view of the quality of his hands. I just don't know . . . . I'd like to think he has decent hands and today was an abberation.

Yea we did leave some points on the field but would you really feel any better if we had scored 10-14 more points?

We also had the possibility of attempting the 54 yard field goal instead of trying for the TD. Not saying it was a given, but it could have been 3 points there.

And yes, I would feel a hell of a lot better if we lost 27-20.

Add another 7 when Johnson badly underthrew Austin allowing Smoot to get back in the play.

Smoot didn't look much better than Jacque Reeves today, lets hope someone noticed that in Seattle.

Actually, had the score been 21-27, for example, yes, I would have felt better because end of the day, knowing that we were making plays, executing, etc. plus knowing our younger guys were also making progress is a positive.

I honestly didn't think we were going to win because as soon as the talk started after GB lost to the Bears on who was playing, resting, etc. and Wade talking about playing for the integrity of the game, that we weren't going to win this game.

I was just hoping for our starters keep the score close at halftime, and for our 2nd teamers to show something.

Had we executed with Austin early in the 3rd and hit the early FG, I think the team would have felt a lot better as well.

Agree with most of post.

But...we have given up 27+ points with Newman in games this year... but I get your point.

Good post. We showed nothing out there.... and after we get to SB this game will be long forgotten.

I don't know that any conclusions can be drawn about this game, but I can say we dropped a lot of passes. Without TO, our passing game looked very average. Austin in particular failed to execute in some key spots.

Many have said that WR is a position of need for this team. I saw nothing in this game that causes me to dispute that point.

We'll see how it goes from here.

Yep - a team record (and not in a good way).

The run-blocking has not been great all year but we put up so many points it's kind of been pushed aside - same goes for some aspects of our secondary.

This team is not perfect by far.

Our faults will show in the playoffs. Question is, can we overcome them?

Yep... and ironically enough... the same thing can be said for the Patriots.

did you get the memo?...Owens IS the Cowboy offense...Dallas loses one player and the entire offense collapses...1 yard rushing in 60 minutes of football?...

This SO reminds me of the 90's when Dallas would lose Irvin for a game...same result...implosion and an excuse to quit on offense...that's what i witnessed today...good thing they just have to flip a switch and all the lights will come back on in two weeks:sarcasm: ...hope they know something i don't...
