We may have the coaching and players to fix our run D, but Suh would have made it so much easier!

Watch it again. Pollard makes so many 7-12 yard runs up the middle because he gets to the hole quicker and he is REALLY good at putting a juke on the defender in the hole. In my opinion, vs Minnesota, Pollard made 2 or 3 runs up the middle where he gained 3-10 yards more than Zek would have. There is a reason Zek averages 3 yards less than Pollard per carry.

Defenses play different when Zeke is in vs. Pollard. They key on Zeke and not Pollard.
It is showing the defenses should now plan for Pollard as well. I am not taking anything away from him.

I think everyone in here clamoring for Suh and bashing Jerruh for not signing him or the other guy philly signed is forgetting something .. those guys had other offers throughout the year, but just didn't want to jump on any team.

Those 2 dudes are rich. And they have limited games left in their bodies.

They're at stage of career where they want to chill, and if the RIGHT opportunity presents itself in Nov or Dec, jump on a team they feel is a legit SB contender, play 7 or 8 games, not practice, and get a ring.

Don't bash Jerruh for not signing them....they didn't want to come to Dallas, and you can't just force them to go to a team they don't think is a good situation.

Last week with only 1-2 days of practice Joseph and Suh played a MAJOR roll for Philly in the 4th quarter, in shutting down the Colts running game.

If we would have picked up Suh, for chump change, it not only would have made our D line rotation MUCH stronger against the run, but it also would have kept him from Philly, or any other playoff team. I wish Jerry would have made the move for Suh!

I still think our run D can improve( see the Colts when Payton Manning won the Superbowl. Their run D was historically bad, during the regular season, but they played excellent run D in the playoffs and Super Bowl).
I don’t think our run D will become dominant, but with the help of some creative coaching( timely run blitz’s etc.) and defensive players just doing THEIR jobs, I think the run D has the potential to improve greatly and help us win the Superbowl. Gallimore, Hankins, and Bohannan definitely have the body types to play the run effectively.

This year, in particular, has a bunch of excellent running teams. We better improve vs the run if we want to do anything in the playoffs!!

Will we improve vs the run?
...but...

So much whining and energy for something that is done and doesn't matter.

He's signed to the Eagles, never coming here nor was he ever coming here, put the energy into something else

if Suh is such a monster, why was he not on a roster for more than half the season?

I think it will be tough. They just don't have the DTs and the LBs aren't really that good against the run except for chasing guys down with their speed. Unfortunately Suh played well and the other DT Joseph was even better. Much better than Hankins. Joseph was double teamed constantly and held his own.
I agree!
That is why we should have made the move for either Suh or Joseph!

Ya I would have liked Suh here he’s an upgrade on what we have and run issues are worse than receiver issues unfortunately I think the Jones boys have wood for Beckham
I don’t think OBJ moves the needle much and I think the giants will outbid Dallas

i totally agree with you. i've called for Suh and OBJ from the beginning of the season. HOWEVER, i have watched the last 3 games and see where our DT are not maintaining gap control. Too many times they are trying to get a sack vs. maintaining their gap. If that can be corrected, we will improve our run D. Back to basics, just do "your job"!

Of course you are.
That would be a pretty dumb D that keys in on Zek and not Pollard!

Exactly! Just do YOUR job! Hopefully, they will start doing it and the run D will improve a lot.

Someone I heard reported that both DTs had a certain (much higher) $ number they wanted if they were going to be expected to do camp, full season, etc. But the half season number was much more reasonable. Plus they apparently both were interested in playing for a good team. Plus this guy pointed out we don't actually know if they got other offers. They may have had several but we don't know.

Don't bash Jerruh for not signing them....they didn't want to come to Dallas, and you can't just force them to go to a team they don't think is a good situation.

I believe your statement would hold more water if Jerruh would have said "we actually talked with them and tried signing them, but they didn't have any interest here" instead of saying basically "we're happy with our guys".

I do think you're spot on that these guys just didn't want to play anywhere, because they didn't have to. However, if they just really wanted to play and contribute to a possible "contender" for the Super Bowl this year, there is no way they wouldn't look at wanting to be a cowboy if a offer was made. End of the day, it makes more sense for what these guys are playing for money wise to play for the Cowboys over the Eagles.

I think everyone can agree that as a whole, the Eagles front office actually works and tries harder than Boys front office.

That said, the high priced receiver now on the market looking for a "contender" at the end of the year fits Jerruh's MO in that he can make a BIG headline. I mean, who the heck knew ahead of time that the Eagles would sign both Linville and Suh within two days of each other? That was smart, work and fly under everyones radar.

As my FIL use to say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut time to time. Jerruh did get at least get Micha. Left to his own devices though, I'm certain Jerruh will screw up a wet dream when it comes to football because he HAS to be involved.

Who cares!!!
He is a veteran that has plenty of money. He wants to win a Superbowl without the grind of a whole season.
How do you not see that?

Our biggest weakness is our run D!! We should have made the move for Suh or Joseph!!

who cares?
This was kind of like when Dak got a contract. Dallas want to do a deal, Dak did not. Then everyone was blaming Jerry for waiting and costing him more money..... which was garbage because it didnt cost more money.

But, saying we should have gotten Suh, I thought

Jerry made a big headline at the trading deadline... just as big as the Eagles..... by doing absolutely NOTHING. So tired of hearing the crap about the big headline. This is the Cowboys, everything they do is a big headline. Jerry doesnt need to try to make headlines. The Cowboys had more press on their BYE week than any team that played that week.

Tampa has been a good run stuff defense the last few years and Suh was a part of that.
But Tampa is still a pretty good run defense with Vita Vea and other defensive standouts.
Suh was bad at the counting stats the last couple seasons for run impact.
He wasn't making many tackles or tackles for loss.
That’s where Suh’s lackluster PFF grades start to become magnified.
I know Pro Football Focus receives a lot of criticism for their grading system, and their grades aren’t the end-all-be-all.
Still, they do a pretty good job of measuring individual performances, especially for offensive and defensive linemen.
Considering that Suh is 35 years old, hasn't played in nearly a year now and plays one of the most physically demanding positions in football, monitoring regression is important.
Suh’s overall PFF grade has declined every year for the past five seasons.

Is Suh better than Hankins? I'd argue probably not. At least not right now in the middle of the season.
Perhaps he will be in 4-5 weeks of game action.

The Colts are 25th in yards/carry.

The Colts had 99 rushing yards vs the Eagles.
- The Colts have had less than 99 yards in 6 of 10 games.

Suh was 5th in snaps played by Eagles interior DLinemen.

Joseph was 3rd.

The Colts have a 40.9% win rate and the Eagles beat them by 1 point. It was the least impressive win by the Eagles this season.

It was impressive that Joseph/Suh played immediately after being signed but they were the 3rd and 5th interior players in the Eagles rotation for that game...
