We must Beat SF On Oct. 8…

As has been noted in another thread, we have a brutal schedule down the stretch of this season. On the contrary, SF has a cupcake of a schedule. As I see it, they have 4 potential losses on their schedule: Dallas (at home), Jacksonville (away), Philadelphia (away), and Washington (away). I included Washington because they play Washington in late December and Washington could arguably be playing for a playoff spot. I guess the argument could also be made that they could drop one of their divisional games to the Rams.

My point is this: SF will probably lose only 3-4 games this year, which means we can only afford to lose the same amount of games. Whoever wins that game between us on Oct. 8 could very well end up winning home field advantage in the playoffs in a head-to-head tie.

That's true, but the other way you can look at it is that..... losing to them in October might mean we beat them in January. And everyone would like that game in January instead.

They also have the Ravens, and I don't think the Rams are a cakewalk either. Seahawks have no defense, but the 49ers defense got ran all over by Puka Nacua, so you can bet the Seahawks and their weapons can give them a game. By the time Cooper Kupp is back, I like the Rams for the 2nd game.

Our schedule is tougher, but i guess it just depends on if you value the first round bye or the fact that losing to them in October could mean beating them in January. You know... lose the battle, win the war.

Rather just beat them 2x.

It would be nice to win that game but the Cowboys need to just show up when they meet in the playoffs. It won't matter where they play if this offense sputters and makes mistakes.

Just win your games.
Beating SF will be huge. Not so much for confidence. But if it comes to HFA, as well as tie breakers of seeding.

Winning the division is key though.

However fans on here, it is extremely important to beat SF. Just wait until we play them, no matter what each teams record is. This place will be a big mess with all the SF slobberers on here leading up to the game.

I don't see us beating them twice. I also don't see us beating the Bills in that frozen tundra in December with their snowball chucking home crowd. So I'll happily take those 2 losses.

I agree we need the games vs Philly more. Gotta win the division and get at least seed #2. I can't see us losing to seed #7, or the winner of the NFC North or South. If we're the team we think we are, we should beat the North and South easily.

If we can't beat them in Oct, it's not going to give much confidence in beating them in January. Feels like you're hopeful of losing in Oct and MM having a "he drops his hands when he throws the hook" kind of moment and getting them in the next round.

Relax. Take it one game at a time. The Cowboys play San Francisco in October. If we play them again it will be in January and both teams will be different. Cleveland appeared to be running over Pittsburgh and then bam!!!! Chubbs knee exploded. Crazy things happen.

Who is a 9er slobberer here? The fact that people think they are very good is not being a slobberer, imo people saw what happened the last two times we've played them and choked, imo this game will be a major confidence booster for the team if we win..this game is very important for more than just standings.

You're not a real fan unless you just brainlessly say everyone sucks but us.

No not really.

If they stay healthy, SF is probably going to go 15-2, 14-3. Even as a better team, it's going to be almost impossible for Dallas to do that regardless of week 5.

As much as I would want to be San Francisco and it's an important game for head-to-head matchups and bye weeks and all that kind of crap I gotta tell you there are no must wins in a regular season game they all count they all get accumulated and at the end of the day all you want to do is make the playoffs we don't know what's gonna happen to both teams as far as health they lose key players I mean it could happen so worrying about one game to me it's a little bit much right now now if we get towards the end of the season there's two or three games left and we need those games to secure a first round bye or home field advantage then they count more but in week 8 you're putting too much emphasis on one game

of course it will go a long way to beat them it would be nice to get that monkey off our back even if it's not in the playoffs but if you had to choose would you rather lose to them and we gate and beat them in the playoffs

..meh, would be nice to win that game. In fairness, I just hope Dallas comes out injury free.

Win or lose, very likely will see them again, in post season. Now, thats when you place your chips down.

doesn't do any good to beat SF if we don't beat Philly, we have to win the division

We are at SF, Mia and Buf, Eagles get them all at home.
True , division first , worry about rest (playoff seed) later
