We do a pretty good job in the draftzone of not only being pragmatic about picks and needs but also understanding our schematics in regards to the prospect. So many on this board already acknowledge that Quinn likes to take slot CB’s who exhibit ball skills and transition them to FS.
I’m not sure about his long-term track record doing this, but Ricardo Allen and Damontae Kazee were both nickels that were transitioned to FS once they got to the league. Both were solid to good starters and Kazee especially showed great turnover production in the role.
Additionally, when Jourdan Lewis resigned he said in his conversation with Dan Quinn he was told he would be allowed to fly around and make plays. Using Lewis in a quasi-safety nickel role figures to play him to his strengths.
When considering FS options this year, make sure to count guys like Elijah Molden and Javon Holland as FS’s because that’s what they’ll play if drafted.
