Going into camp with two starters and a bunch of question marks. Danny Coale out for how long? Why wait til late in camp? Let Romo get aquainted with a 3rd WR now. Its inevitable Miles will be injured. He's like Newman was.

Was Danny Coale the answer? Moreso than a guy who Romo has been throwing to since last year and from all reports, has a good connection with?

We don't need a retread.. we have plenty of promising options already for the 3rd, 4th, and even 5th WR spots.

As for Austin.. 3 of his first 4 seasons he didn't miss a game, missed just a few the other season, and last year had some hamstring problems. He's nothing close to what Newman was.. think a little bit before you start threads, please.

Seriously, a guy has one down year with injury and your going to say hes always injured?? Wow every player goes through a year like that at some point. Give the guy a break hes still a solid #2

Tough call. Maybe so.

I'd prefer to give the young guns a shot.

WR is different...you can really find some gems that were drafted late or undrafted. And some don't take as long a s Miles to get get ready.
See Victor Cruz (UDFA) and Wes Welker (UDFA), Marques Colston (7th), Donald Driver (7th) , Brandon Marshall(4th) , Antonio Brown (6th), Steve Johnson (7th) are a few of other, more valid, examples. There are many, many others.

We have 4-5 seemingly fairly talented young guys who have never had a training camp.
How do we know what we have or dson't have if they don't get the reps?
Because we also have Witten, out uncertainty at WR3 is not as extreme as it would be if we had a JAG TE.

Then again, if a good value becomes available, we may have to take alook.

We have one.... Dez Bryant

We need a number 1 to go along with our number 2 Miles Austin

I think they'll see what they have then make a decision later on about adding a vet although they may be looking for the right guy at the right price.

I posted this on the Wallace thread but it applies more here....

More than 1/3 of of the NFLs top statistical WRs last year (and 2 of the top 3) were drafted in the very late rounds or not drafted at all.

We have 5-6 guys in the category who have not had a training camp. I think we'd be crazy to to give them a hard look. Maybe we have a gem or two in the bunch

Plus, these guys were top WRs, we are looking for a WR3 or an emergency injury sub...so odds go up further.

The "lost ball in the lights" against the GMen with the playoffs on the line followed by his goofy smile as he walked off the field with our season down the toilet kinda ruined it for me.

Personally, I think if they run the boring offense of 2 wr, 1 te, 1 rb, and 1fb, they will keep defenses guessing. If they run the 3wr set all the time, most defenses will guess pass or run that draw play.

I think at some point, Felix and Murray will be in the same backfield. So there is no need for a 3rd wr who can contribute right away like Robinson did last yr.

No, you mean you want a name that Madden will recognize. There are several WRs on the roster that Romo can get acquainted with.
