We need a legit deep threat wide receiver

Until we get a legit deep threat at wide receiver, teams are going to continue to stack the box and play tight coverage within 10 yards. The Steelers got their first three touchdowns by throwing the ball deep and either via pass interference call or catch they were able to blow the game open in the first half.

We do not have a deep threat on offense and Dak is not great at throwing the deep pass. But if we cannot take the top off the defense we may see more games similar to the one we saw Sunday.

Is there any wide receiver out there that we sign that could scare teams deep?

what we need is someone to put the talent we have into positions for it to win. All we seem to do is rely on Witten and the occasional Beasley catch. I was told to many balls to go around, yet Linehan has only used 3 this season. (minus the few caught by the other two) the Brice experiment is over. I even liked him when we brought him in. Its not working. We also need not top tier talent, solid talent a solid ball catcher, a guy who knows, "i dont need to be the best, but i need to be solid".

What's Terry Glenn or Rocket Ismael up to these days?ha

Terry Glenn, excellent choice, not the best, but solid and dependable. I was glad he came here.

We keep missing the boat. If we have talent, no good coaches to exploit it, when we dont have talent, sometimes we had a qb to make it work. What we need to do is hit to make it all come together. Someone who says "this is what we have, and this is what we do to make it work" It doesnt have to be the Belle of the Ball, she just has to show up"

We have Butler and TWill plus Dez..... no shortage of WRs that can get deep

We didn't even try yesterday because of the pressure up front

Dez has faced 2 of the best CBs so far and has still contributed... we are OK

Exactly.

Everyone mouths the words "Get deep" but no one says what that is...

IF in your mind Dez is not the threat he once was...why would other teams give us a decent pick or player for him?

what i think he meant is, "Dez is not a threat here, trade him to a team who will turn him back into a threat or use him better, See Ware or Bennett for examples"

This is something that's too late to address this season. It's something for the draft or free agency to fix. Dez is not the receiving threat he once was. Trade him.
Heck, I'd take any amount of compensation if someone is willing to take that ridiculous contract of his

Maybe they will... the FO can certainly try to put him on the trading block and see if they get any nibbles. I just think other teams see what I see.

Even if we got a "legit deep threat" the routes he would be running would be a straight line and wouldn't get passes thrown his way anyway.

Then there would be threads about getting a *better* "legit deep threat"

When the issue is constantly "We need a player who does (fill in blank)" then your roster isn't the issue, it's the people who are supposed to put the players they HAVE in the best situation possible to excel. We have a pretty damn good receiving core, that is absolutely NOT the issue. The people calling the shots are the issue.

Doesn't really do you any good if your not going to throw the 9 route.

I'm not really sure what the 9 route is, but Dez received 16 targets (last time I checked) last night. 16. The production Dez had for the number of targets was abysmal.

Dez can't get open for ****. Dak wasn't super accurate either. What we don't know is how much of Dak's inaccuracy was due to Dez' route running.

No not really. We can trade Moore for a deep threat receiver this year.
