We need a new kicker

So what I'm getting from this is that because the ball went BY his left hand, it redirected it between the posts?

He didn't touch the ball.

I'm not a physicist so can someone tell me how that can affect the balls path when he never touched the ball in the first place?

The thing this story proves to me is that not only are the 49er players losers, they're idiots too.

It says he grazed the ball. I saw the same thing on my 60 inch TV. It was clear that the ball touched his hand.

Really? Might need a bigger TV I guess..

"Once the snap went off, I dipped my right shoulder and put my (left) hand up," Jean Francois said. "All I could feel was the wind come across my hand. If I'd gotten my right hand up, that ball would've never gotten off."

He said he felt the wind of the ball but not the actual ball. I think it would have been good reguardless.

Bailey's quite a kicker if he can hit it that far even after grazing a player's hand.

I call BS.

"It was off already, Ricky . . . You grazed it and it went back."

Lmao...well that puts an end to this thread.

Note to self....don't make **** up just because it fits my agenda.

it definitely changes direction..but that happens all the time on kicks, doesnt it?

The kick had a bit of draw to it but not uncommon and it did not even start to draw until it was well up in air. Had someone touched the ball it is not going to travel 48 yards

The ball was easily a foot above his hand at the line of scrimmage.

Yes, it does. This is one of those times.

That ball looks like it's already passed him in that frame. I would dismiss that frame as evidence inconclusive.

If you look at the video though, it definitely looks like he touched the ball. Though his exact words were he felt the air move. If he had actually made contact with the ball, he would have known it.

and we would have known since the ball would have come up short.

not only was it not short..it looked like it had roughly 10 yards to spare

Yes. The initial force (kinetic energy) of the ball is pushing the wind out of the way and will almost knuckle. Once the level of energy drops below a certain point, the wind has more of an effect on the direction of the kick and will start to move in a specific direction.
