These penalties on our O-Line are on coaching. People will say the players are the ones committing the penalties but they can be coached out. Our run blocking is not that great. That’s the blocking system. We are no longer an aggressive O-Line. We have the big boys to do it but this coach has changed something. Penalties especially inside the 10 are dumb.

The other part of the running game woes are MM. He don’t like to run up the middle inside the 5. But before we get to the 20 he will run Pollard up the middle. He is not a starter and not a 20+ carry RB, Notice when we rest Pollard and use Dowdle for a few series our run game gets better and Pollard will break a few runs. We need a hammer and Dowdle can do it but you need to have to use him early. Luepke is a 240 pound RB but gets no carry’s. He has 3 all season. And one of them is a TD from the 4 yard line. I saw him in the game last night but used as a blocker.

This crap will cost us in the playoffs or against better teams. It cost us egirls game. Look at end of game. We were on the 2 and got a penalty. Them give up a sack.

Too late in the season to replace the O-Line coach and the blocking system. We had issues one year with JG when he let our real good O-Line coach go and hired his buddy that got fired from bengals. He changed the system and we stunk. The bye week JJ fired him and brought Colombo in and he changed back to the aggressive system our players were used to. Our run game improved.

Problem is these players don’t know the aggressive style we used a few years ago.

Dak is using the “here we go” thing to help let the O-Line know the snap. Something is not working. Needs to be fixed.

To the bolded, I remember a number of years ago doing a check of the statistics, and the change in OL coach did not improve the running game in 2018. Their best games in terms of run productivity happened under Paul Alexander, and the YPC was basically the same. The biggest impact was trading for Amari Cooper.

Is this the first time that a team has led the league in scoring and point deferential with so many problems?

Feels like the run-play designs are a total mismatch for this offensive line.

How can you have Tyler Smith and Martin at guard and not be able to get more than 2 yards running up the middle week after week?

We need to see more delay/draws as well. As much as they are passing the ball they have to do something to take advantage of the opponent's DL teeing off on Dak. Ran one with Dowdle in the first half for 9 yards and never went back to it.

What is an OL coach supposed to do about a false start? What do we think, that in meetings, he tells them to jump the cadence?

People attribute penalties to coaching way too often.
Agreed. These guys aren't new to the game. About the only way I can think of is to fine them for pre-snap penalties. That goes for the defense lining up in the neutral zone too. What a stupid penalty.

They do make too many mistakes, but that penalty for an illegal man upfield when they were at the 2 yard line seemed a bit crappy to me.

Personally, I think it's because Biadasz is simply not good. He's average to below average more than not, and the only reason he isnt a complete liability is because hes playing next to Tyler Smith and Zach Martin. If we had a center who was average 90% of the time, the run game would be much better. Additionally, I think Pollard is ***. He doesn't see lanes open up and either runs straight into the hole or waits too long and gets tripped up. I think its blatantly obvious that he's better suited as a part time change-up back that can catch defenses off guard. Huge blunder on McClay and co's part to think Pollard could be a bell cow but also thank God we didnt pay him.

Solari is way better than Philbin.

We need upgrades at RB.

Expecting scrub RBs to run like Elite RBs is asking a lot.

We've had 3 different OL coaches in a fairly short time, yet the run game is never very good. It may be the players.

I've been saying it for the past 4-5 years, our Oline coaches stink and their poor coaching is hurting and holding this team back. I truly believe we would have reached a Super Bowl or two by now had we had a real good Oline coach who knows how to push this Oline and make them perform so much better.

Yup.

People on here were talking about how you dont need to pay $$$ for an elite RB.

just pick up some scrubs and low end draft picks, and you are good to go.

Of course it wasnt going to work.
