We need a speedy slot receiver

Rather than keep Roy Williams (inflated cost) we could get someone who fits our offense a lot better and adds another wrinkle to the offense.

I like Roy Williams in the endzone, but 10 times out of 10 I'd rather go to Dez Bryant.

I would like us to take a flyer on Edmund Gates in the 4th or 5th rounds if he is still there. I think that would complement Austin and Bryant (Who aren't necessarily slow by any means) with additional speed.

That would really help out Romo having another slot option, other than witten.

austin gives us speed and deep threat, Dez seems at this point an all around WR, and Williams gives us hands if he plays well again this year. What do you people want from a 3 man corp? I think we can roll with these guys this year and do something better next draft or FA.

I don't think we can keep Roy.

Doubt it happen the team needs to be drafting mostly D unless another O Lineman. The playmaker was singing the praises of Titus Young.

We are more than ok at wide outs. We get Roberts back at TE and along with Witten the Boys are set.

Roberts?

I think you meant Phillips.

Our offense needs more speed. I think most people would agree with that.

Bowen and Hatcher are RFA, they are going to become the priority.

Spears may or may not be resigned. There is also Lissimore. I don't think drafting an end is as big a priority as most think. Not saying I woudn't mind some improvement at that position though.

A speedy slot receiver is not a need, it would be a luxury. Sure it would be nice, but not a necessity. Dallas did fine with the receiving corp they had including what they get from the tight ends and running backs. I am not opposed to adding a speedy slot receiver, but there are bigger needs they should address first.

I think Dallas will look at WR later in the draft. Hurd is likely gone, Ogletree took a big step backwards last year. Outside the top 3 WR there is little to nothing behind them.

This is way down on the list of needs. We have 3 very good WRs right now and hopefully Ogletree will re-appear this year too.

Everything is in relation to everything else.

The offensive line helps the wide receivers, because they buy more time for the qb to wait for wide receivers to get open.

A speed receiver gets open quicker, therefore a quarterback can get rid of the ball quicker.

the shift from Marion Barber to Felix Jones and Tashard choice will have that same effect.

Do you know how teams like the Saints and Colts are so dominant on offense?

They scare you into playing honest.

When you're afraid of the homerun threat, you have safeties back and you play your linebackers in a position ready for coverage rather than the constant blitz.

Teams knew that the best way to beat Romo was to blitz the hell out of him, and force him to get rid of the ball quicker than he wanted to.

You keep the defense on its toes with speed from Felix Jones, a slot receiver, and the deep threat ability of Dez Bryant... Romo gets all sorts of time and with that time you see punishment on a biblical scale.

I absolutely love this line, because it's so true. :)

Romo 2 Austin;3929484 said:
No we don't. We have enough WR's

we have enough so that we don't need to use a high pick but outside those 3 we don't have anything if Cowboys get a chance at taking a WR with potential late in the draft I think it would be a good move.

Exactly. People want to react too qucikly on RW still. I beleive he can and is still a threat. He will still need to be accounted for. Expecially with all 3 of them on the field at the same time. With Witten, and Jones at RB, who do you cover, who is double covered. I say give RW this year, draft a WR next year, if his eventual replacement isn't found as a FA, or late round draft pick this year.
