i think we need to call more plays to get dez the ball....like at the goal line he had a 1on1 match up and the did a shovel pass instead of throwin the fade....

I wish they had a running game so goal line plays would result in 7pts. I dont' mind the occasional fade route to bryant, or even a damn slant. but. Somehow this team has to find a running game.

And figure where this kid Bryant disappears to in the second halves of games.

Getting really annoying.

He was double covered in the end zone.. they put a safety on him right when Dallas snapped the ball.

Fade rout, shovel pass, QB sneak what ever get the ball in the endzone. How you get it in I don't really care.

I think there are times even if there is a double to throw the fade to the corner of the endzone and allow Dez to go up and fight for the ball.

Maybe if he put forth more effort in to learning the game, we would see more plays for him.

Exactly it's hard to double in the redzone without showing it...if you throw the fade to the corner all the safety can do is run over fast, and try to knock Dez down. Which may result in an early hit aka PI

I think the main reason is Dez is big and physical and on a fade to the corner of the end zone the results are normally catch or incompletion. I would like to see Dallas use the size we have at WR in Dez as well as Bennett at TE.

I do think when we're passing that somehow we've got to find a way to get him the ball more. That falls as much on Dez as it does anyone else as well.

Yeah we got to much size on our side to not take advantage..all of our main targets stand no shorter than 6'2

But Dez is the king of all of that

From couchscout:

Dez Bryant - I was asked via PM to look into Dez's route running this week. In general, I try not to talk Dez too much, because I'm quite critical of him. If I had no other info about him other than what I see on tape, it would be completely obvious to me that he doesn't study his playbook. But I also have now two sources that tell me the Cowboys are not at all happy about how little of the playbook he knows. Much like Roy Williams, the Cowboys only ask Dez to run a few routes. Slant, fly, drag, dig, that's pretty much it. He rounds off his dig route, which is disappointing to see. He doesn't stick that foot in the ground and explode inside, which leads to him getting open fine against zone coverage, but he's not beating man coverage on that route. He doesn't run what are known as "pro" routes, like the deep comeback, the stick nod, the jerk, the post corner and post corner post very often. Most likely that's because he's not very good at them. All that being said, to say Dez is a bad route runner would be inaccurate. It's that he hasn't learned all the intricacies of route running yet. There is so much to running routes, even most advanced football fans have no idea about. There is a whole jargon just for route running, I could sit here and have a conversation with a pro WR about running routes, and a lot of the people who will read this thread would only understand about 60% of it. The good news about Dez is that unlike almost every other player in the NFL, he doesn't have one single physical limitation. Once he figures out the mental part of it, he'll be one of the most dangerous players in the league. Let's hope he's still a Cowboy when that happens.

In other words, Dez is still a project, and the club hopes he studies his playbbok more. Now we know why Romo simply does not trust him.

We are calling all the ones he knows now.

Romo has taken heat for some INT's that were on Dez and his lazy routes.

I don't care if we need to start calling screen passes to him over and over, get the guy the ball.

He can run a go route, there isn't much to it. Just run and throw the ball up and let him make a play.

The playbook may limit him, but there is a way to get him the ball. I don't care if it's a reverse/screen/go route. Just target him.

I also dont buy Romo saying that the defense is dictating him not getting action in the second half of games. I think thats Romo just standing up for the guy.

I wouldnt be surprised if its a conditioning issue with Dez.

Been over this already, but it's not Dez's fault. Romo doesn't look for him for whatever reason.

3 on 1 wasn't enough to stop Megatron.

I would expect most would argue that Romo should give him every opportunity if he were a Cowboy.

I think Dez has similar ability. Under no circumstance can I see a DB taking the ball from him for an INT. Just will not happen.

I'd throw it to him doubled.

He's that good.
