We will need to cut one player to clear room for Scandrick this week and we will also need to cut someone to make room for Jakar Hamilton in week 5.. This means by week 5 two current players on the Cowboys 53 man roster will be cut.

Candidates

CJ Spillman
- This one is all but a lock in my opinion.. With both returning players being defensive backs cutting Spillman makes too much sense.. Spillman was brought in last second due to Ahmad Dixon's inability to be punctual to meetings and he has not really done anything impressive in his time as a Cowboy.

Tyler Patmon - This one also would make sense just due to the numbers in the secondary. Made plays during the preseason and also has shown up on special teams so far this season so I am hoping that they hold onto him. Not sure he would make it to practice squad if released.

Tyler Clutts - Clutts has been in on a grand total of 2 offensive snaps thus far. I am hoping he will be one of the cuts but for whatever reason I think the Cowboys like the idea of having a fullback on the roster.

Dustin Vaughan - I don't really buy the hype on this kid and I'm not sure once injuries start taking there toll we will be able to carry him on the 53 for the entire season but I think they hold off on cutting him until later in the season and try to bring him back on PS. Still a candidate because he has a very limited opportunity to help the team this year

Ken Bishop - I am really hoping this one doesn't happen. Bishop has a lot of upside and was solid against the 49ers. Hoping that Bishop sticks around but it is hard for me to imagine once Spencer and Lawrence are both back they will be able to keep so many D-Lineman.. Hopefully they will cut Edwards or Jack Crawford rather than Lawrence if a cut needs to be made on the D-Line.

There we have it.. 5 likely candidates to be cut with 2 cuts needed.. I personally am hoping it is Spillman and Clutts.. Or Spillman and Vaughan. What do you guys think?

Spillman's a goner, in my opinion. Last one in the door is usually the first one out.

We're keeping Vaughan and Bishop. Spillman will be replaced on the roster, for sure, with one of the DBs. Then I'd say it's probably Klutts, as the guy isn't getting played and would be available on the street down the road if we want to bring him back when somebody gets injured.

If we're cutting one of the prospects and keeping Klutts for some reason, I'd go with either Donald Hawkins or Lavar Edwards.

Heath is one of our best special teams guys. No way no how.

Who is Donald Hawkins? Never heard of the guy.

Like somebody said, it'll probably be two of the guys most recently added. Those guys are basically brought in for extended tryouts. Whoever has least impressed in practice or on special teams will go.

He's the OL we picked up from CLE to replace Wetzel after cut downs. Mostly an OG in camp, but I think we project him to OT.

We're carrying too many OTs right now in Weems, Hawkins, and Parnell, with Zack Martin also on the roster. I'm not sure if we don't like what we've seen in Parnell at swing and want to get Weems healthy and have Hawkins backing up if we were to cut Jermy, or what. That doesn't make a lot of sense since Parnell's a vested veteran. Maybe we wanted to see if Hawkins could outplay Weems once Weems is back healthy? I'm not sure, but it seems to me like we're too deep at OT for the time being, and one of those guys ought to go at some point soon.

I don't see Hamilton making the 53 man roster at this point. And we are still waiting to hear back on the new ruling for guys like Scandrick, Welker, etc I thought?

There is a lot of football between now and week 5. Its not yet time to worry about who is getting cut at that time.

I don't think there is any chance they cut Spillman. He's a top STs player and a vested veteran. They are long at DE and have had a couple weeks to evaluate them. So they might need to let one go even if to move them to the practice squad. (Lavar Edwards or Jack Crawford) Spencer is suppose to start practicing this week according to the Cowboys Break guys.
