I'll pass on Gruden. Give me Holmgren or give me DEATH! :laugh2:
another Wade

Holmgren

02 – 7-9
03 – 10-6
04 - 9 -7
05 - 13-3
06 – 9-7
07 – 10 -6
08 – 4 – 12

the guys we need or the guys we probably can't get...Cowher or Dungy make the top of my list...IMO Garrett is the next Dave Campo...don't like Holmgren, Shanahan or Gruden...

I'm not high on Holmgren, Shanahan or Gruden either. Are they better than Wade? Well, yeah. So are hemorrhoids. But Holmgren's track record post-Favre is spotty and he's old; Shanahan has a playoff drought that rivals ours; and Gruden offers nice quips on Monday Night Football but probably has the least proven track record of the three, though he is younger.

To me, and I could be way wrong, but Cowher seems like the obvious choice in that he likes to employ a 3-4 and is a hard-nosed coach. Frankly, if we were drawing up a guy that we needed, I think those two qualities are right atop the list. Now, he'd probably never work here which makes the point moot and makes me wonder who would be a good backup plan to Cowher.

Eh, he also went to a Superbowl with Rich Gannon, who never did anything anywhere else.

He's not on the top of my list by any means, but he's not on the bottom either.

Go back and look at the rest of the NFL that year the Raiders made it. Talent was very thin.

No more re-treads. We need fresh coaches.

After this season. JJ needs to hire a GM, enjoy just being an OWNER of a football team and get some new blood in here. Retain NO ONE from past coaching eras. Clean house at every position. From Waterboy to QB. Not every single player obviously, but,

Crapp..

I was dreaming again wasn't I? :banghead:

Ray Sherman doesn't get a pass with me right now. The receivers have sucked recently. How many *incorrect routes* have we had recently? (several ended up being INTs)

If a receiver doesn't know his route, he has no business on the field.

You know, I've been laughing at the people who keep wanting Ogletree on the field. Maybe, they should put him on the field to make a point to the current batch of receivers. Know your job or you don't play.

Not one coach on the Cowboys gets a pass. The players don't. The owner/GM doesn't. No one.

There is one thing that I remember that still sends shivers up my spine and cold sweats sleeping.

It's still not as bad as

CAMPO/COSLET.

Well how bout Cower:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Cowher is probably the only head coaching candidate in the bunch who would not bend under Jones' constant managerial style. Shanahan and Bowlen didn't have the best of relationships. Holmgren has many times expressed his desire to be in charge of most/all football operations, which was his primary reasoning for leaving Green Bay for Seattle. Gruden is much like Phillips in that he prefers to leave the other side of the ball in the hands of the 'other' coordinator.

Cowher's my choice. Some fans do not like his attitude, but his attitude is all football in the way that he exudes it through his pores. He has a history of not getting his teams over the hump to the championship game, but he does have a history of getting them into the tournament as Parcells would say to make a run for it. He's a players coach who players respect the heck out of. And he spits you in the face like a maniac. What's not to love?

What is with this Cowher crap? Seriously. The guy was the bridesmaid for so many championship games and a 1-1 record in the Superbowl?

Nevermind the fact he coached for the ENEMY and didn't Dallas already try this with Parsmells?

New blood time. No retreads.

The one thing I like about this site is the capacity for people to not take Jerry Jones into account when forming opinions. In the post-Jimmy Johnson era, he has hired Switzer, Gailey, Campo, Parcells and Phillips.

Gailey, Campo and even Switzer were 'new bloods'. Parcells and Phillips were retreads. Given his history, I would rather Jones settle upon a retread with a track record than him possibly going after a 'Lane Kiffin'. In the final analysis, it's always about what Jones may do, not what fans would like for Jones to do.

I agree with you. I just don't see the plus of hiring a guy like Cowher, or Rat Boy or Chucky.

No. Gailey was the "new blood". Switzer was a long time friend/ head coach in college. That works only once and Campo was already a coach in some sense on the Cowboys.

And Jones doing what he wants. I can see him bringing in a Cowher or another retread. Whoever strokes Jone's ego enough will be the next HC.

Two words:

RIGHT NOW....this needs to happen and I want to know who agrees!

You thought things were bad now?

Yeah, fire the whole coaching staff mid-stream and see what happens.

Sorry, but it's knee jerk statements like these that show me that some fans have never been in charge of anything in their lives.
