We need to talk Q Williams

Interesting thing is Awuzie and Williams had a better career post Dallas.
Williams career was derailed due to injury, but he was looking pretty good in Miami as a center.

What has really bit the team is when they get forced into their own corner and pick need over BPA/better options elsewhere.
Hill, Taco, Joseph, Williams(Quinn hype pick), Schoonmaker, Smith etc...
Awuzie was a need pick and was mid-low starter level here. Blossomed a bit more once he left.

Not every draft will be perfect, but when they ignore FA and then force the draft to get someone-and need to produce right away they've been burned there.
Per board we draft pretty d— good but looking at this, it’s a hot mess!

The interior DL did okay. The OLBs/DE had a bad game against the run. Rashan Gary did not have a very good game at all.

Quinnen Williams was pushed out by the JETS of all teams and Cowboys fans expected him to come here and suddenly be some kind of difference maker? Come on. The Jets couldn’t wait to get rid of him and look what happened they won without him. Sometimes you have to ask yourself why a team was willing to let a guy walk in the first place.
I was honestly pumped when we got him and thought it was a good trade, but I’m really starting to have my doubts now. He got schooled by a rookie and hasn’t been a difference maker since he’s been here. At first I gave him a free pass because we got him halfway through the season, then I could kind of blame the coaching but now with a new coach and the entire off season, he still hasn’t done anything and got beat by a ROOKIE!

Hitting in the draft isn’t the only way to build a team. There’s also trades and free agency. But we’re not great there either. The Pickens trade seems good, but if we lose him after this year for nothing, then it won’t mean much. I think winning on free agent is similar to winning on a draft pick. Either they win you a championship or they stick on the team 5+ years. I can’t think of a trade we’ve had like that. Amari Cooper was maybe the closest, but it’s also not clear if he was worth a 1st round pick.

What exactly is this guy supposed to be elite at? If we’re being honest he’s had one good game as a Cowboy. His debut against the Raiders was great. Since he’s been very average. I saw him get pancaked today…yes his punch out was good but it was 8 yards downfield after he got mauled. Thinking I’d rather have that 1st and 2nd round pick back.
You really need to be grateful. Just imagine being the rams with Garrett, or GB with big mouth micah with a bad back and toxic. Dallas actually came out good between the teams. Atleast Williams is on the field with chance to improve.

Every other team in the league would take Garrett or Micah straight up over QW any day of the week.

It's because of position value not who is a better player. That's like saying micah is a better football player than Fred Warner. Of course only a football moron would believe that soft Podcaster is better than Fred, but for positional importance sure they'd take him over Fred. See how that works?

We basically gave up Parsons to get him. So obviously the Jones had to double down on Williams by giving him a HUGE contract.
That's how they evaluate players. Trade a ton of picks for him and give him a ton of money. He MUST be a superstar, right?

You mean the Herschel Walker 2.0 trade?? Come on man, we completely revamped our defense with that trade. Look how much better they've gotten since we kicked that loser to GB

He’s a DT. He controls space and can play 2 gaps when head up. He was getting plenty of push consistently. He is a damn good DT and was the least of the defenses problems. Dude can’t control every gap and offenses can easily run away from him.

I think it’s the money part that bothering me. He’s getting Chris Jones money and he’s nowhere near that caliber of player.

That’s another point this franchise is so bad at drafting DL.
Go beyond DL, this franchise is just bad at drafting. The amount of misses we have in rounds 1-3 is a big reason why we are stuck in mud. Not sure why Will McClay just stuck with this title of being some draft guru. Exactly what has he built here?
