Cowboys needed to purge themselves of a lot of garbage before the playoffs begin. An ugly loss like this forces them to confront things and put their house in order. Things like Dak's checkdown addiction, inability to avoid sacks, horrific red zone offense and also give them a taste of the ref-hosing they can expect come playoff time.
Out of the 3 games (Colts, Bucs, Giants,) this was the most "lose-able" one. Being an AFC opponent, the Colts loss matters little in tiebreakers.
Cowboys also now have to have much more urgency. They now are in realistic (albeit still remote) jeopardy of losing the division to the Skins.
My worry is that Garrett will keep clapping and tell Dak, "no worries Dak, keep throwing 3-yard checkdowns on 4th and 14, at least they're not INTs".
