We tried to run barber down there throats and it worked, but because our drives took so long we didn't put up enough points. We have seen it time and again, the team would get sloppy and make mistakes, but because we had such a big lead it didn't matter. If we would have played a faster paced game, the pressure would have been on Eli and he would have started throwing INTS. :bang2:

Maybe
We did try and change what we were doing.
But I think that is because we struggled toward the end of the season.
But you could argue that with their seconday we could have passed more and put up points and turned it into a shootout.

I agree with you, we limited ourselves and Barber looked tired in the 4th.

Good thread, I think Jason Garrett showed why he is not ready for a HC gig yet...a couple more years and he will be...in the meantime however, I say find someone besides Phillips, tired of him sitting on the sidelines looking dumb and fat.

And this folks is the reason Barber was not the starter all year. Not sure why he was tonight either.

No he shouldn't.
He carried it 11 times in the second half for 27 yards.
He looked tired and wasn't getting anything.

Nonsense. An 11 minute drive in a playoff game is tremendous. Our D doesn't **** the bed before the half, and we come out after the half, do more of the same, go up by 2 scores, and completely demoralize the Gints. Gameplan was great.

The gameplan meant we couldn't make any mistakes.
Long drives mean less possessions mean you need more pecision.

Dallas abandoned the running game in the 2nd half.

Only 3 points in the 2nd half.

Barber rushed for 11 times in the 2nd half.
That is not abandoning the running game.
Try again.

Problem is when your D can't stop them, you need more than a one touchdown lead and you can't have freaking 15 yard penalities negating first downs.....If we would have tried to go after there secondary and score more, we would have put the pressure to not mistakes on ELI; instead it was on us and we totally dropped the ball because we are undisciplined.....

The bigger problem was Garrett has no patience as a coordinator. He is constantly sending everyone down field looking for the big plays. The end of the season teams were dropping much deeper forcing the Boys to stay patient and they didnt do it. Why are we throwing 20 and 30 yards down field on 3rd and 20, 3rd and 11 and 4th and 11? Why not pickup a first down on 4th and 11? Every WR was running to the endzone on that play, I dont get it. We ran almost no slants, outs or hooks and they were there all day. Garrett needs to learn that you have to take what the defense is giving you at times.

because there was 30 seconds left and we had no timeouts, its pretty hard to do much with 30 seconds and no timeouts, i could imagine the giants were trying to guard the sidelines atleast.

Sure.

How many times did Dallas run the ball in the 4th Qtr?

(13:22) M.Barber left tackle to DAL 12 for -1 yards (R.McQuarters).

(11:04) M.Barber left guard to DAL 44 for 2 yards (A.Pierce).

(7:00) M.Barber up the middle to DAL 48 for 4 yards (R.Torbor; G.Wilson).

(1:50) (No Huddle, Shotgun) M.Barber up the middle to NYG 40 for -1 yards (J.Tuck).

What we witnessed was panic.

4 Times for 4 Yards
Yeah, pretty effective.
Give it up. Everyone noticed how tired he was in the 4th quarter.
The same holes were there as in the 1st half, he just had no energy left.

Did all of you people not bash Jason for not running enough against the Eagles?

You can pick up 10 or 15 yards and spike that ball, it is a lot easier to do that then complete a 25 yard pass.

That was our attempt to play Marty Ball or Parcell's ball or whatever, problem is that it means you cannot make mistakes and cannot give up a 43 second TD drive, both things this team has proven ALL SEASON long it can't do. We really needed to score points in this game and put the pressure on ELI, but we didn't, we put the pressure right back on ourselves and it backfired. The game was over when we failed to score a TD on the first possession of the 2nd half......
