Want to know how much we own Washington DC and the Commanders?

In the Library of Congress, there is a special exhibit dedicated to Thomas Jefferson's library...he was the proponent of the idea of a national library, and many of his books (originals) from Monticello are on the shelves there for everyone to see.

Many books were lost in the fires of 1814, but there is a service who searches worldwide for original copies of the old books (some from the 1500s) in order to attempt to complete the collection. Do you know who personally funds the effort to search for the books?

None other than Jerry and Gene Jones.

Interesting!

In other news, the Cowboys have beaten the Commanders 22 out of the last 29 times.

Not to mention the fact that I see way more Cowboys gear here (Alexandria, VA) than Commanders... it is sad.

In before that post gets deleted. Actually meanwhile in the Cotton Bowl, Texas, Stadium, and Cowboys Stadium...35-13-2.

Heck we even win more games in your stadium than you do against us.

People like to crap on Jerry Jones but he is a pretty good guy.

The Cowboys are 9-6 all-time against the Commanders at FedEx Field.

We haven't "owned" anybody for a long time now. We just have a better record against them.

Other than DC standing For Dallas Cowboys? That was an awesome find btw bro. Love to hear anything that proves were better than the Commanders. Here's a son I heard an old guy singing at the car wash one day....

<Sing this to their TD song> "To hell with the Commanders, no Vic-tor-y, died on the warpath, buried in old DC."
Go Cowboys.

Having a 22-7 record against the Commanders in recent history is almost as close to "owning" a team as it can get. Of course, the Patriots and Steelers have dominated the Bills and Browns, respectively, in recent history, even more, but New England and Pittsburgh have been strong Super Bowl contenders and Dallas has not. The Chargers beat the Raiders 13 consecutive times up until recently.

No, not really in the grand scheme of things...just sayin.

Myself, I love giving Jerry and his family their dues....and they have been a great group. Full of pride and value.

I should have mentioned this a couple years ago when I had my personal behind-the-scenes tour of the LoC by someone I know there. He was well aware of my being a Cowboys fan and made quite the point of pointing out that the Jone's funds that search :)

That's really cool. I had no idea they were trying to recreate the library as originally sold by Jefferson, let alone that Jerry was financing. I knew that when Jefferson sold his books to Congress he had the largest personal collection in the US.

Thanks for the info. I'm a big TJ fan.

Agreed. I have nothing but the UTMOST respect for Jerry. Even with his flaws, I still just love the guy. The naievety of the masses truly baffles me. :starspin

I love the fact that the Joneses have not made this public. They probably have many other philanthropic endeavors that we don't know about.

This is true! Every so often a bit of info will surface. I know Jerry helped pay for Crazy Ray's medical bills at one point, completely without publicity.

Appreciation from one big fan to another.....
