I know this year we havent given up the deep ball to anybody since week 1 but this soft zone stuff needs to be cut down a bit. Im not saying to get rid of it because we are 9-1, however; Im looking at the big picture as oppose to right now. We get into the playoffs and we play this soft coverage and our offense struggles, look out. We need to challenge some more. We still can have 2 deep safties over the top but have the corners man up on a few more plays. Ill put this in captial letters because to me OUR DEFENSE RESEMBLED A SCHEME YOU WOULD RUN IN THE PRESEAASON. Yes, big open windows for the QB to throw in to and recievers to sit in to. It appeared we were so vanilla today it wasnt even funny. This sounds negative but it was a bad gameplan by Stewart and Phillps. They deserve a mulligan. Maybe the rivalary had something to do with this. I dont blame this on the dbs either. If a coverage calls for you to play 12 yards off and a reciever runs an 8 yard slant, 10 yard comeback, out, etc its impossible to cover. Give the Skins credit for taking what was there. We should domniate the Jets. Opinions????? Do we play too soft too much? Or, am I overreacting?

Looks like it. I never thought about it but you're right, not too many deep balls since game 1. Stalworth's big play wasn't really a long ball. Reggie Brown caught one for 45. Thats about it....

I'm sure there was a reason we softened up, but I agree, I thought we should have tightened up instead of making Campbell look like an all pro. It was extremely vanilla.

Our CB's play far to soft. A point I have been making for a long time. It's very frustrating.

There question is why? Does Wade know the pressure won't be there to give them help? Our pressure is disappointing and I believe it all starts there. Both our CBs have the ability to play close.

Yeah no kidding we should have played the agressive coverages the Skins used, No wait they lost the game. Oh my!

If Wade wants to play zone why not mix in more man-under coverages and then zone the safeties?

henry is a liability at this point. KENNAN McCARDELL owned him yesterday.

Next Years Champ, we won because we were more talented. If you want to turn your back on today's performance from the secondary then eventually its going to come back and bite us. Yes, we won but should it of been that close? We were what 15 point favorites. I would hate to have to play the Seahawks in the playoffs, all they do is run short patterns and that could hurt our scheme.

We have them backed up... 3 and 10 to 15. We need a big stop. Moss is WIDE OPEN in a soft zone. This play was so frustrating. Soft zone + inconsistent pass rush = trouble.

I agree we won because we were more talented, All that point spread stuff means nothing to me and it means nothing in the standings. It can possibly point to problems within a game plan or with player execution, it can also mean that one team preformed above or below the odds makers statistics.

I personally didn't think this would be a easy game, because I think Joe Gibbs is a very good coach and I felt he would have his team ready to compete. So to me this game wasn't a sign of some larger weakness, I think the weaknesses of this team are well known so it doesn't surprise me when other coaches attack those.

Dallas attacked the Commanders weaknesses as well, The Skins decided to run riskier schemes than the Cowboys so they paid the price and were exposed.

IMO this was a type of game I expected because it was a rivalry game and the end result was within the framework I've come to expect from NFCE competitors.
