We ran the ball WAY too much today.

It was fairly obvious the Giants were selling out on the run, and we were having great success with the pass. The 3rd and 4th quarter became very frustrating as we would move the ball and then they'd decide to throw in some runs, and almost every single time we'd lose yardage.

We lost downs and yards because we didn't completely abandon the run as we should have. Sometimes it IS the best strategy.

Disagree. You have to keep trying the run, and there are down/distances it is best to get two yards and a cloud of dust.

However, what hopefully everyone can agree on is that we didn't lose because we didn't run it enough....

Couldn't agree less. Cowboys threw the ball 55 times ran 23. You can never abandon the run. Maybe we can not give the ball to Barber the most

Why can you never abandon the run? That's just silly. We did it against Chicago in 2007 and it was a great call. Only after we had established the lead did we go back to running.

If we had run less today, we score 30+. We may have still lost, but it would have been closer.

You are clueless, dude. Do you even understand the game? Did you notice we were running out of the shotgun? Did you notice that when we did run with Romo under center it was a delay? Did you see the 9 yard gain on the only i-formation run of the day?

Let me educate you. When you run a delay, the offensive line is basically pass blocking to 'sell' pass since you're trying to trick the defense with a run. The same goes for a delayed handoff. But when you're calling almost 3 times as many passes as runs like Garrett did today, you are sending your running back right into the teeth of the pass rush. Also, ask anyone who has played offensive or defensive line, it is easier for our o-linemen to control their man when firing off the ball as opposed to backing up and trying to read where the defender is trying to go.

The problem with this team is Jason Garrett's refusal to establish a running game. Period.

Well, we got one person saying we ran too much.

Another thread saying we ran too little.

Which is it?

I don't know what I'm talking about? The Giants were playing the run. If the Giants were going after the pass, because we were doing that 3 times to 1, then the draws and delays should have been gashing them. They weren't playing the pass, they were still playing the run, despite the heavy pass play choice, and the Cowboys should have kept passing and gaining yards and first downs until they changed.
