Our top priority isn’t winning. Sure , we want to win but not willing to do everything possible to win. We continue to have an aging upcoming 80 year old owner strangleholding our front office posing as GM with his first fertile sperm as VP. What could go wrong ?

Why would we consider anything will change. We’re more concerned in remaining interesting and relative to promote hype and hope in order to pimp the brand and sell the product.

It’s amazing we even have a playoff caliber team . But we need to thank our pitiful divisional foes who aren’t saddled with the embarrassing handicaps , hindrances and obstacles our dysfunctional ownership must overcome but yet still struggle to produce more competitive teams.

The fact is we’ve assembled enough talent to win worst division in NFC but as we witnessed in playoffs last year and against most playoff teams we faced it doesn’t measure up.

We are frauds. Over hyped and over sold. And our dysfunctional ownership will attempt to keep most of these stars and talent in place because they generate the hype and hope that our fans buy into.

We have a toxic culture embedded with an undermined coaching staff serving as puppets for our failed ownership more concerned with their celebrity status and being right than winning.

We have been reduced to an entertainment package not to be taken serious as real football entity as we continue to just go thru the motions almost as they don’t even have time to make more effort . They certainly aren’t going to make the difficult decisions to shake up front office .

I guess there’s no one who convince our ownership that an 80 year old owner posing as a GM and his son isn’t what’s best for Cowboys football. I’m to the point that either there’s no interest in making that needed change or it’s an unapproachable situation. Until then it’s going to be difficult to raise expectations and take our football operations more serious. Enjoy the show!!

I don't get too worked up going into any year. I may be optimistic going into a season, and sometimes I'm pessimistic, but I don't get wrapped up in expectations until I see how things go on the field. Even then the expectations can change as the year goes on. Early 2021 season I was pretty damn excited. Eventually that waned a bit. I stayed hopeful, but wasn't very confident going into the playoffs

Ya know how people say a drawn out "yeah" but sigh at the same time?

That's my response.

It’s not doom. It’s just adjusting our expectations and outlook.

And why it’s silly to take this franchise serious anymore. But I suppose there’s still entertainment value .

This is why our viewership is still so high. Our opponents love watching the train wreck while us Cowboys fans still wince while we go off the tracks.

Separating emotions lowering expectations is best method for me. I just can’t take them serious anymore.

We can still reserve some hope or chance of luck but as I’ve learned throughout life it’s unrealistic to expect a problem child or situation to change especially after decades of poor choices without intervention or some change in behavior so it’s only natural to adjust expectations.

Yes. I live in Packers/Vikings/Chiefs country and they all love to see Dallas fail. The Vikings could get embarrassed but as long as the Cowboys lose, they are great. They still talk about the Herschel Walker trade. I would imagine that a good portion of the country is the same way. You either love or hate the Cowboys.

Jerry and his son holding onto those titles drives me nuts.

He's been questioned by the lack of results in the past and his answer has always been: "because that's how we do things here." It's maddening.

The scariest thing is realizing not just that Jerry is incompetent--I believe he wants to win, so long as it's "his way". Now, that's been a blueprint for failure for a decade and a half, but we had chances in spite of Jerry's meddling here and there. Now is the dawning of the realization that Stephen just doesn't care about winning, at all. And he's next in line to run this franchise for probably most of the rest of my life.

It was hard to fathom years ago because Jerry talked a good game but now it is abundantly clear that Dallas is more about the brand than winning football. Alligator arms Stephen is opening up a few more eyes with his talk. Dallas has an aging OL and expensive RB. They should 100pct be all-in this coming season. That means going hard into FA. The FA crop is not the best but they could certainly get top Ss and replace Gregory with someone that will be productive and stay on the field. Also upgrade at G. They will do nothing though.

Multiple threads, each with hundreds of posts—all doom and gloom talk of incompetency, bad choices, bad trades, bad culture, embarrassment and anger…

Doesn’t sound serious at all!

…and there’s only two choices:
1)This, or
2)Gleeful ignorance and satisfaction with ratings and hype.

I haven't taken this team seriously for years. I have far too much experience with locally owned and operated family run businesses over the years to take this franchise seriously. Is anyone in that family capable of getting jobs anywhere but with this team? Now they have a grandson as a scout and hopefully his father and grandfather didn't teach him everything they know about football.

Hell, Crazy Al didn't let little Marky play until he was down and out of it. However, he did find barbers with a sense of humor to keep the boy occupied.

this last year was the straw that broke the back...i am sure ill still watch but im done with really investing emotional energy into this team when I know its going to be the exact same year after year until Jerry is gone.

At this point, i watch more because its fun with my kids than the fact that I care about the team like i did in my 20's and early 30's...i expect this year they will be sub .500, miss the playoffs and we will have our usual down year in between our mediocre playoff years.
