We really can’t take the Cowboys serious anymore

A normal fan watches the games and wears the hat. Some go to games, some don’t. We remember big games fondly, bad games with disappointment, and we speculate about the future, hoping for the best. We don’t like every coach or player, disagree with many of the decisions, do our little gripe, then move on. That’s the NORMAL fan, who treats it like a game, a hobby, a diversion.

Then there’s the dead serious “realist”, who sees himself as the ultimate fan, more enlightened, more invested—he acts like HE’S the one paying the bills and making the decisions. He knows what’s best, and the rest are just pretenders, and he’s perpetually miserable, because they’re not doing things the way HE wants them. That’s NOT normal.

Our top priority isn’t winning. Sure , we want to win but not willing to do everything possible to win. We continue to have an aging upcoming 80 year old owner strangleholding our front office posing as GM with his first fertile sperm as VP. What could go wrong ?

Why would we consider anything will change. We’re more concerned in remaining interesting and relative to promote hype and hope in order to pimp the brand and sell the product.

It’s amazing we even have a playoff caliber team . But we need to thank our pitiful divisional foes who aren’t saddled with the embarrassing handicaps , hindrances and obstacles our dysfunctional ownership must overcome but yet still struggle to produce more competitive teams.

The fact is we’ve assembled enough talent to win worst division in NFC but as we witnessed in playoffs last year and against most playoff teams we faced it doesn’t measure up.

We are frauds. Over hyped and over sold. And our dysfunctional ownership will attempt to keep most of these stars and talent in place because they generate the hype and hope that our fans buy into.

We have a toxic culture embedded with an undermined coaching staff serving as puppets for our failed ownership more concerned with their celebrity status and being right than winning.

We have been reduced to an entertainment package not to be taken serious as real football entity as we continue to just go thru the motions almost as they don’t even have time to make more effort . They certainly aren’t going to make the difficult decisions to shake up front office .

I guess there’s no one who convince our ownership that an 80 year old owner posing as a GM and his son isn’t what’s best for Cowboys football. I’m to the point that either there’s no interest in making that needed change or it’s an unapproachable situation. Until then it’s going to be difficult to raise expectations and take our football operations more serious. Enjoy the show!!

I stopped taking the Cowboys seriously years ago. Still watch, still hoping to be surprised someday, but not buying into to any "Super Bowl or bust" nonsense until I see a couple playoff wins - in the same season. That's the only thing that'll show me something is different - a playoff run.

Until that happens, it's just the usual "OMG, Cowboys!" when they blow out the Giants followed by "What happened?" when a legit team punches them in the mouth. I wasn't surprised at all by the Niners loss - even bet on it happening. That team fought its way into the playoffs out of the toughest division while Dallas piled up wins against softies, and looked quite average (or worse) when playing an actual contender.

Seeing Jethro come out with his "Super Bowl or bust" silliness the week of the playoff game followed by "I just can't believe how we played" after it, reminded me just how blinded he is to his own team's shortcomings. He and Junior are too enamored with their own work, to the point of thinking not much needs fixed - just run it back and hope THIS time luck goes our way. I'll bet I can guess how that turns out, again.

I don't get too worked up going into any year. I may be optimistic going into a season, and sometimes I'm pessimistic, but I don't get wrapped up in expectations until I see how things go on the field. Even then the expectations can change as the year goes on. Early 2021 season I was pretty damn excited. Eventually that waned a bit. I stayed hopeful, but wasn't very confident going into the playoffs
I didn’t have much expectation going into last year. Felt like the D was still gonna be an issue
Got that one wrong lol
I didn’t think at any point we was a SB team so I wasn’t as shocked as some when we lost in first round

Arlington Jonesboys 26 years in a row, 0 NFC Championship game appearances, and being relevant as the no.1 goal.

Dallas Cowboys 20 years no losing seasons, 23/30 years in the playoffs, 16 NFC Championship game appearances, 7 Super Bowls, 5 NFL Super Bowl Championships with only winning Super Bowls/NFL Championships as the no.1 goal.

We can still reserve some hope or chance of luck but as I’ve learned throughout life it’s unrealistic to expect a problem child or situation to change especially after decades of poor choices without intervention or some change in behavior so it’s only natural to adjust expectations.

Nice comment here. The behavioral patterns are so deeply embedded at this point it would truly be nothing less than miraculous to expect change from any of these same family members that have so many years of conditioning this specific way.

The profits have so afforded such extravagant lifestyles that none of them would ever see any reason whatsoever for a changing of the well established Grandpa Jerry standard operating procedure business model.

If compared to a computer, what you are witnessing are the Joneses Factory settings. There will be no changing out of the hardware. Only non impactful software programs called players and coaches that unfortunately will never possess the ability to initiate real change.
