We scored one TD in 4 trips inside the red zone. This has been and continues to be one of Kellen’s main issues.

The good news is we can score from anywhere on the field with some of our weapons— but we need to crack the code and start punching home TDs with regularity.

Bingo!
:hammer:

As much as the kicker was clearly at fault, if the red zone offense was more efficient, the Cowboys win that game by a large margin.

Who needs red zone TD's when you can rely on your kicker. It's a calculated plan to reduce wear and tear on the overpaid QB.
…..at some point the Kicker is overpaid too, starting with the 1st game/1st week.....not sure why the reference is always about one's salary so much. Guess we'd prefer cheap under-achievers/marginal/below average players on this roster (like we have quite a bit of now)…...but our OC is phenomenal. SMH.

If you won't stick with running the ball you will never ever be any good in the redzone.
The Oline needs to consistently win their battles, create a constant push, drive and open up holes in order to run the ball well. We could have Emmitt running with the ball, but not even he would do much running behind this run struggling Oline.

yup.

was the problem last season. But the injuries caused us to overlook the jacked up blocking scheme, which looks like zone.

I have never liked zone blocking. Man "power" blocking is better, especially for big guys like we have. It's easier for pulls and traps and is excellent when using a lead fullback blocker in the backfield (where play-action would come in handy). Hudson Houck ran a man blocking scheme superbly with our 90s Great Wall of Dallas oline during those SB years, but Jason Garrett messed that up when he allowed Bill Callahan and Lane Kiffin to switch it to zone blocking when Garrett became head coach.

Finally, somebody realizes why we lost to TB

TB 3/5 in red zone - and really they were much better than that. They were driving for the game ending TD and would have had a first and goal inside the 5 when Godwin fumbled. And the other trip was the game winning field goal when they didn’t need a touchdown.

Dallas as mentioned already , 1/4 in the red zone..

Dallas has figured out a way to start taking the ball away..they’re one of the best teams at it right now, they’re literally the best team at it over their last like 8 or 9 games or whatever it is dating back to last year … now Dallas needs to figure out a way to do the same thing w their red zone struggles…offensively and defensively

Kellen likes to go back shoulder fade a lot to WRs down there… 50/50 balls. He loves to run Dak down there on some draws— at least before he got hurt. Not a lot of innovation or even involving all the weapons we have.

You’d think they could figure out how to free up a TE like every other team seems to be able to do from a goal-line look lol

If we don’t have the TEs to block down there— then at least let them leak out and get some pass looks. Pollard in the flat would be another option worth exploring

Your half a homer disgusts me.

You can't put all the blame on Kellen Moore.

At some point you guys are going to have to hold the players accountable also.

How about week one games? We’re most teams running the ball in the red zone to get the TDs?

Dak is responsible for audibling to or from a run. Dak has final authority to choose run or pass, does he not?

Players can only execute the plays in the playbook… This offense has struggled in the red zone under Kellen for years.

Why else did McCarthy bring McAdoo in specifically as a red zone consultant? They see it as an issue— just haven’t cracked the code yet

We’ve gone from one pass-happy coordinator in Garrett, to another one in Linehan, to arguably the most lopsided of all in Moore. These guys abandon the run at the first hint of trouble.

Despite enormous investments in running back and offensive line, the play callers quit on it - and them - all the time. It takes determination to sustain a quality running game, and recent coordinators don’t have it.

Scouting Department needs to go into the weeds and find a few more......
