We should have given the ball to Barber more

I didnt understand why Bill didnt use Barber more.

At one time at the end of the game he had a big run then was taking out for the useless A-Train. The drive was stopped.

Also Barber seemed good at picking up the blitz.

Once JJ gets back I see no reason A-Train should suit up.

I thought Barber played well. He ran hard and got the ball alot on one drive. I think Parcells wanted to alternate back no matter what. And also wanted the possibly more sure handed Thomas in there. I'm happy to see Barber show something in a real game. He's gonna be a good 3rd down back for us in time.

A-train disappointed. 2.2 yards a carry won't cut it.

Without JJ, we're back to last year.

Feel the same way. I like the job Barber did but at the end of the game I want a sure handed RB with some game experiance

Parcells had to go with the RB by committee. Thompson fumbles too often, makes mistakes on blitz pickup & doesn't catch passes; he also making much jump from lower quality college football to pros and starting is a lot to expect of him w/o our paying big price - so Parcells getting him gradual experience. Thomas hasn't shown anything this season but Giants do play well against the run. Agree Barber looks good but also lacks pro experience because he preseason injury set him back, but he did do better running the ball, picking up blitzes and making 2 catches. We will be seeing much more of him as season progresses. But these RBs not responsibility for poor running game; its been poor this season and we've all wondered why JJ hasn't gotten to 100 yards a game yet (except he on way against Eagles). It obvious our OL can't get the job done for whatever reason; this is something Parcells is really going to have to work them on. In any case we need to restructure our OL in the offseason (Adams is inconsistent and also 30; Allen is about 34 & often plays like 39; Johnson gets pushed back too often;Marco isn't performing at the pro bowl level I expected & rookie Pettiti needs to continue to develop. We must get quality players behind them who can step in and/or pick up a FA vet to step in replacing one of them and draft a good young OL in next round next year.

I think we also need to realize that Barber is a rookie. You don't know what his breaking point is. You can't feed him the ball 30+ times a game for 3 or 4 games and know what your going to get. I don't think Thomas played all that poorly. His average yard per carry is not great but he doesn't give you a lot of negative yards. Also, if you look at his carries, he's pretty effective yesterday when he's running inside. He is not as effective when you take him outside. He's not a franchise back but he can give you some inside running.

I agree. As for Barber he did show some flashes which is something he had not done up till now.

Thompson does not have even one fumble credited to him in his entire NFL career, none. JJones has one this year, so is he tagged a fumbler? I hate it when people speak out of ther arse.
This last game Thompson average 50% more yards per carry than Barber, and 100% more than A-Train. If we want more yards and actual production we go with Thompson. If we want to spread it around and look all pretty we'll do this committee stuff. Barber danced around and got STUFFED near the goal line. Thompson would have been going 100 mph @220lbs and blasted into the end zone - no ot.

I'm not sure our OL play has been completely awful but clearly there are some issues. Good DL's can not typically be completely stopped over the course of a game because they substitute a lot (see our DL rotation for example). I'm concerned about our play at center and this is impacting our ability to run up the middle.

We also seem pretty poor at attacking the edges, on either side. Maybe it's me but our OL seems slow and so the holes open slowly. Attacking the edge collapses because the back side pursuit eats it up. To add to this they seem to get slower as the game progresses. We'll see how it goes but I would like to see some consistent running particularly late in games. Until we can do this our ability to hold down other teams will be suspect.

He fumbled it twice, had his knee not touched a split second earlier thoose are turn overs.

Are you saying you know more than Bill Parcells? Bill saw he didnt take care of it and limited him the next game.

So, after our conversation on Friday, what do you think of Barber based on what you saw yesterday?

As I said Friday he needed to show something some kind of flash because he had not done so through training camp. Yesterday I saw some flashes by him. Barber needs to keep putting in the work and hopefully he can be a bigger part of this team. I don't like getting down on any player so I was very happy with what I saw and hope he can continue to improve.

i think one reason bill did'nt use mb3 more is the fact it was 100 degrees on the field yesterday and mb3 has'nt played alot this year so far so i suspect they where considering his conditioning. barring injury barber will be the #2 most of the 2nd half of the season. he is a fine reciever, good blocker, and a smart kid

Good. You hate to be in a position where your trying to support a player based off his college career, which is what I was basically trying to do. You'd rather have some track history in the NFL to point to. If he can get his fumble issue squared and if he can get a good off season program behind him, I think he will be a nice back for us next year.

I hope your right. He seems like good kid and I saw him in college as well, which is why I was glad we drafted him. However once a player is drafted what he did in college means very little to me I need them to show they can handle the NFL which is a different animal all together. Yesterday was nothing spectacular but I did see flashes by Barber and I hope he can build off that.

Jen-Jen said Julius is still limping...

I think Barber has a little something and I would expect to see him get the ball more if he plays like he did yesterday...
